I currently work with children, adolescents, adults, and couples and have experience working with professionals working in demanding environments, the LGBTQ+ community, veterans, and people in hospice care.
Working together to examine deeply-rooted fears, emotions, and patterns from the past, we can diffuse their power so that you can build a future more aligned with your goals and values. My aim is to find what works for each unique person and to create a non-judgmental, exploratory space where people feel safe to say whatever surfaces. The goal of treatment is to spark transformation toward healing by cultivating awareness of your innate strengths, supporting your search for meaning and authenticity, increasing your sense of connection to others, and building your capacity to cope with difficult feelings.

I specialize in working with clients with ADHD and Autism and those who identify as LGBTQ+, and also offer ADHD/executive functioning coaching.
We all have our own negative thought patterns that impact our confidence, self-esteem, and mental health. What ideas and beliefs do you have about yourself? Perhaps those beliefs are causing you to be stressed, anxious, or depressed. Together, we can discover your unique thought patterns, become aware of their impact, and start to replace them with more motivating and realistic self-talk. We can also begin to understand how your emotions show up in your body and how they might be impacting different areas of your life.

Conducting Psychtherapy and Executive Coaching through a culturally competent, LGBT-affirmative framework is a fundamentally different experience than traditional therapy.
Do you struggle with relationships, career, family, loneliness? Unfulfilling relationships, substance use, depression/anxiety and career challenges are often the catalysts that bring many people to my practice. While painful, these motivators to therapy can lead to lasting change. It is my strong belief that it is the relationship or therapeutic alliance between client and therapist that ultimately heals. I conduct psychotherapy through a Gay/ LGBTQ-affirmative and a culturally humble framework.

Are you a queer person spending more time than you would like in your own head? As queer people, we are often seeking acceptance and validation for who we are. We can experience this search as shame, loneliness, confusion, and discomfort in our bodies. We have only just begun to build a society where we truly feel safe, seen, and heard. I aim to provide a comfortable and secure space for you to peek out from the isolation and release the pressures of your life at your own pace. We will work together to help you discover a new relationship with yourself and bring about sustainable, lasting change.

I work primarily with people of color, queer and trans folks coping with anxiety, depression, life transitions and relationship issues. I aim to help you tune into how you're truly feeling, while centering radical self-compassion. Healing and liberation come in many different forms and we will work collaboratively to understand your individual goals and needs. Ours will be an open space, free of judgment, to explore thoughts and feelings you may not otherwise have a place to address. One of the first steps toward healing is being seen and heard authentically and in our work together we will begin there.

My experience has focused on adults with depressive disorders, anxiety issues, adjustment issues, relationship issues, substance use problems, ADHD, identity issues and life transitions.
Feeling down, anxious, trouble coping with life stressors, life transitions, family or career problems? Coping with relationship issues, grief, loss, medical hardships? Sandwiched in between parental responsibilities and taking care of aging parents? Do you need help navigating and coping with these issues? Therapy can be a real opportunity to better understand yourself, behaviors, choices, opportunities and ultimately improve your overall quality of life. By examining your feelings, thoughts, and repeating patterns you can gain insight, unlock potential and can ultimately be mobilized to change.

As a gay man and therapist, I am passionate about helping other LGBTQ individuals bring their stories into therapy in a holistic way.
Gay men and lesbian women face many challenges that are specific to them. It is important to find a therapist that understands your unique experience as a queer person in a culture that promotes heterosexuality as the norm. Whether it's past traumas or internalizing the stigma that we have been exposed to, we all have life events that impact the way we see the world today. For queer people, our worldview may be impacted by our time in the closet, messages we receive from media, and the different communities we belong to.

As a gay man and psychotherapist, I am in a unique position to understand and relate to the unique needs of the LGBTQ population.
My practice is varied, although the focus over the years has been the LGBTQ community. I also see singles, couples and families not identified as LGBTQ. My role is to be a supportive agent, assisting the client to explore their past and present and to be more open about conflicts that are causing stress. Together, we explore the clients family history, in order to develop a deeper understanding of their present patterns and relationships. Anxiety, low self-esteem, sexuality, work problems are all examined. As a parent who has adopted, I work with families and individuals around adoption/foster care issues.

If you're seeking support in finding the power in your internal world which you may transform into change for yourself, I invite you to reach out.
Friction between our internal reality and the external world is often a significant source of stress in our lives. Who we are is often the source of our greatest strengths, but it can also leave us feeling unseen or invalidated by the world around us. These experiences can lead to feeling unseen, invalidated, or threatened by our families, communities, or society as a whole. Depression, anxiety, and other feelings are the natural result. Despite this, our sense of self and our identities may guide us to developing our lives so they reflect the way we want to live.

I have experience in working with individuals from varying backgrounds and am passionate about supporting BIPOC, LGBTQ+, and other disenfranchised communities.
Congratulations for taking this first step! Seeking counseling is one of the most courageous decisions that one can make. Many of us experience depression, anxiety, fear, sadness, or dissatisfaction, while feeling unworthy, inadequate, unimportant, misunderstood, unaccepted, unfulfilled, inauthentic, or stuck. We often suffer in silence, trying to cope with day-to-day pressures and stress by ourselves. Therapy supports in identifying practical methods to manage symptoms, develop coping skills, and heal. I am committed to helping you identify and work through obstacles that stand in the way of moving forward.

LGBTQ+ Therapists

Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?

Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialized training, either during their degree program or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.

Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalization in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.

How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?

Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.

Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?

While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialized training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
