About

Psychotherapy . . . a dynamic, interactive journey. I offer a safe, caring, professional environment in which we co-create a relationship essential for your healing and growth to occur naturally. With you, I undertake the opportunity to cultivate a supportive and trusting relationship. In my 25 years as a therapist, I have come to know that it is the genuine connection between us that paves the way to successful, fulfilling therapy. I will help you to learn more about yourself, to understand why you do what you do and to uncover, strengthen and integrate the many aspects that make you authentically you.
I have advanced training in psychotherapy/psychoanalysis, and in substance abuse/addictions, with particular experience with the LGBTQIA+ communities, young adults, teens, and with parents around the challenges of raising healthy, self-actualizing children. I facilitate groups for Queer Women, Parents and Students transitioning to post-college life.
Together we can discover ways for you to make better choices in life, encouraging you to seek satisfying and healthy relationships; to achieve your goals; to get through difficult times; to navigate challenging transitions; to deal with and manage anxiety and mood fluctuations; to find balance, peace, and happiness within.

Julie Lichtstein's Groups

A Queer Womxn's Therapy Group

This group offers queer women a place to be together to explore and to articulate themselves individually and as a community. As a collective that is often "separated and different from" others and often struggles to understand the diversity amongst ourselves, group members will seek and find ways to understand, grow, develop and find strength with one another. No clear self-definition necessary, just curiosity about oneself. Please email jlichtsteinlcsw@gmail.com, if interested in learning more.

Parenting in a new age

CURRENTLY OPEN TO NEW MEMBERS FOR THE FALL 2022. PLEASE EMAIL (jlichtsteinlcsw@gmail.com) IF INTERESTED. This group will offer parents a place to consider and explore the myriad challenges of parenting in the 21st century, and in a world in which so many are suffering with PTSD. In an open and supportive setting, we will discuss the issues and develop the skills that are critical in helping our children to become self-aware and self-actualizing young people and to live happy, healthy lives.

(Young) Adulting

This group will offer space for a shared journey as members embark upon the challenging transition into independent and self-actualized adulthood. Beginning by exploring the question: What does adulting mean, and how do I want that to look and feel for me? Topics and issues may include: the art and of becoming your authentic self; of separating from parents/caretakers with love; of tackling the mundane (Aren't errands, laundry and paying off credit card debt what boring adults do?); of curating the emotional, sexual and professional relationships that you want, and of cultivating the relationships that you have.
