We believe that everyone is unique and therefore is dealt with in a way that best caters to his or her individual needs. We work with you by exploring your world to see how you engage with your life and the people around you. Along the journey, we will explore your past, look at your present and see how you perceive the future. We will help you become more aware of your values, beliefs and limitations and help you connect and improve your relationship with yourself. This process may be challenging, yet extremely rewarding as we access the changes you want to make towards living the life that you want to live.

Having been a client myself, I have a strong appreciation for how difficult life can be at times. Painful experiences often make it impossible for us to see through problems and move forward. Allow me to introduce myself: I am a father, a son, a husband, a brother, a good friend, a counsellor and psychotherapist.

I am a qualified Clinical Psychologist, BABCP Accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist and Supervisor and EMDR therapist working in both the NHS and private practice. I work with adults suffering from a variety of psychological difficulties and/or relationship problems. I have a particular interest in working with individuals who are affected by past traumas and/or psychosis. I acknowledge that when seeking help for such difficulties time is of the essence and therefore I work with six associate therapists in my clinic so that if I do not have availability immediately then hopefully they will. Please do get in touch for a chat.

Hello, I'm Rachael. There could be many reasons why you’re looking for therapy. It could be due to a particular issue that feels clear to you or a number of issues that are troubling or causing distress; perhaps you’re experiencing a general sense of discontent or unease that’s more difficult to describe. Whatever brings you, I aspire to provide a consistent and safe environment where we can explore what’s most relevant for you and at your pace. If you would like to talk further about sessions, please feel free to contact me. Following that, we can arrange an initial session to discuss how you would like to use our time together.

Hello. Sometimes life is just overwhelming - often we know what the root cause of the problem is and occasionally we don't.  Perhaps you have realised that coping on your own isn't working and talking to someone else could help. Whatever the reason you have landed on my page today, I hope it gives you an insight into what I do.   Having faced my own challenges and formed an authentic relationship with my therapist,  I experienced first hand the power of an empathic, caring, non judgemental and safe space to explore my feelings.  My aim is to offer a similar experience to you, whether individually or as a couple.

Welcome! The decision to start therapy is an important and often life-changing act of self-care. Continually experiencing physical tension or feeling that you are trapped in repetitive thought patterns can inhibit your ability to set priorities and implement change. Taking the first steps toward making personal changes is often the most challenging part of the journey, but I’m here to provide the support you need to ease yourself into the process.

Offering adults therapy and psychological assessment in the centre of London and online. I think that every person’s therapy journey is different. Some people need skills and coping techniques to help deal with things in their current context. For others it is important to address the underlying psychological mechanisms that give rise to the problems or symptoms at different points in life. For some it is important to address childhood origins of problems so that they can break free of repeating, destructive life patterns. I want to help people find the journey that is right for them.

To make the first step to reach out for help is the most difficult one. I provide an environment where clients can feel comfortable exploring their challenges, their emotions and finding solutions. I recognise and support your autonomy, working with couples is to help both parties through the process of managing communication styles, thoughts and feelings, whilst the collaboration is instrumental. There is scope for you to attend individual sessions, it is a good opportunity to be incorporated in your couple's work. Clients usually starts with weekly sessions, then move to fortnightly and monthly.

Are you anxious about your relationship?  It can be very daunting and even feel shameful or disloyal to approach a therapist about personal problems in your relationship or the fact that you aren't in one or find it hard to sustain one.  We seek help for other concerns why not with relationship problems?  Therapists, like carpenters have tools to offer that can help you make repairs. Speaking about your concerns aloud with an experienced and empathetic listener can disempower the anxiety so the work of recovery can begin.  I have enjoyed working in the NHS and privately over many years on relationship and sexual problems.

Trained as an integrative therapist, I work in a unique way that is based on your own individual needs. I believe that everyone is different and not every modality suits everyone. Life can be hard and doesn't always go the way we would like. I offer a range of session times where together we can explore what you are experiencing and work towards where you want to be. I have worked with depression and anxiety among other issues in out-patient NHS settings as well as NHS in-patient units for trauma and self harm. I also work with a range of presenting issues in private practice where I offer concession rates to accommodate your situation. I am currently conducting doctoral research into the treatment of depression and understand the importance of having a safe empathetic space and good therapeutic relationship.

I am a qualified integrative therapist with an MA in philosophy and an MSc in psychology. I have worked as a bereavement officer in hospital during major incidents and the pandemic. I now work with clients from all walks of life, supporting them in their own times of challenge and adversity. If you’re facing hardships, struggling with change or feel like there’s something missing, you may be interested in trying something new. Therapy can feel like a big step, but I’ve seen first-hand how transformative it can be. If you’re curious and don’t know where to begin, I encourage you to reach out. It may be transformative for you too.

How can I find a therapist in London?

Search for nearby therapists or counsellors by inputting your city, postcode, or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are members of the main professional associations, mainly the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP) and the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP). Most Psychologists in the directory are accredited members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and/or are registered in the Health and Care Professions Council (HPCP).

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given that professional memberships are not a statutory requirement for psychotherapists and counsellors in the UK, certain qualified professionals or organisations may choose not to maintain such memberships despite possessing the necessary qualifications. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Counsellors, psychotherapists and psychologists can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and experience that enable them to do so in the UK. Psychologists have earned a degree in psychology and many are members of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and have completed a postgraduate qualification in a specialism. Counsellors and Psychotherapists are not required to have a psychology degree, but to belong to a professional organisation such as the BACP or UKCP, they are required to have completed a training course as well as clinical and supervision hours.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the UK could be between £30 - £60 when seeing a counsellor and £60 - £150 and up when seeing a clinical psychologist. If you have private insurance, your plan may cover some if not all of your sessions. You should contact your insurance provider to determine if they provide coverage for therapy sessions and to determine what, if any, requirements they might have in order for your sessions to be covered, such as a referral from your GP or medical specialist.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. The NHS Talking therapies programme offers free of charge counselling for common mental health problems like anxiety and depression. The service is available to anyone registered with a GP, though you do not necessarily need to be referred by your GP and can refer yourself directly to a Talking therapies service. The service will provide different solutions, including group and individual therapy, for a limited number of sessions which are generally up to six.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Therapists who are part of a professional organisation such as the BACP, the UKCP, or BPS are bound by an ethical framework that requires them to uphold a confidentiality agreement. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there has been participation in a criminal act or act of terror, or if there is potential or known harm to the client or others, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
