I offer you a safe place to explore your emotions and the issues that trouble you and will work with you to find solutions which will improve your life. Therapy with me is about preparing to make changes. I will help you release the thoughts that trouble you, your fears and despair and help you contain those most intense feelings so we can look deeper into the reasons why you are not functioning as you would like to. We can't always change the way those around us behave, but we can change our attitude to life and to others.

Life can be very challenging at times and it can be difficult to make sense of things and find a way forwards on our own. Therapy aims towards increasing our self-knowledge and attaining clarity over our feelings, intentions and tendencies as by becoming more aware of the challenges we experience and how we respond to them, we also become more able to identify alternative ways of looking at them and addressing them. I offer a safe space to facilitate exploration and promote insight and personal growth. Everyone is unique and so everything that is brought into therapy is treated with care, respect and confidentiality.

Online psychotherapist with an eclectic and inventive approach. Practicing Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT). I believe that people already have within themselves what they need in order to overcome their struggles. All it takes is a bit of guidance and someone to ask the right questions. My wish for my clients is that they find the inner freedom to live the life that they want. I mostly work with expats, travelers, digital nomads, burners - I can relate to the lifestyle and can appreciate the need for flexibility and rescheduling sessions when necessary, however, anyone is welcome.

I find that most clients are struggling because they lack coping strategies to manage distress, but also often because they are out of touch with what is important to them, their values, their strengths, their preferred life directions, and there are barriers such as anxiety, fear and/or emotional discomfort which lead to avoidance and other unhelpful behaviours. In turn, these factors thwart their goals and increase distress. Clients want reduced distress and increased pleasure and engagement with a life in which they can feel confident and empowered.

I view therapy as a collaborative enterprise between client and therapist, with the shared goal of gaining understanding and facilitating a process of acceptance or change. In recognising that we are all unique, each with our own beliefs, values and attitudes about ourselves, others, and the world, I believe that it is important to tailor therapy to the individual needs of my clients. I work with a range of psychological theories and approaches, including Existential-phenomenological therapy, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, and Motivational Enhancement therapy, providing both short and longer-term therapy, where appropriate.

Oscar Wilde wrote, 'Be yourself, everyone else is taken'. Wise words but sometimes, it can feel too hard and complicated just ‘to be’. Hello, my name is Candida, an Integrative Arts Psychotherapist. I am convinced that much mental distress and profound unhappiness stem from a loss of communication; primarily with ourself. Psychotherapy is about beginning a conversation, an attempt to find sense in the intense, difficult feelings that make life so challenging. Pain needs a voice. It needs to be heard. Yet often words can feel elusive or unsatisfactory. This is where the arts are helpful. This is not about being good at art!

I work with difficulties such as a middle life crisis, a lack of meaning in life, depression, anxiety, loneliness, existential and spiritual crises, couple problems among others. Together with the client we would try to understand the reasons that have brought the person to that point in their life but also what is the the purpose of that emotional state or difficulty in the individual's life path. The question to answer is not only “why has this happened to me?”, but “what for?”

How can I find a therapist in Greater London?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or postcode; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or postcode into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In many countries, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counsellor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counsellors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counsellor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counsellors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
