Many people spend vast amounts of time and money getting an education, obtaining a driver’s license, planning a wedding, or achieving their dream job, but few people are willing to spend the same amount of time and money investing in understanding themselves, knowing their values, and determining how to choose a partner who is a good match for them. By educating ourselves about who we are and what we really want in our lives, we increase the possibility of living happier lives.

Asking for help is a sign of strength. If you are looking for help with anxiety, depression, ADHD, trauma, BPD, PTSD or have been a victim of narcissistic abuse, it takes courage to ask for help. Admitting you can’t do everything alone is the first step toward achieving wellness in a fast-paced, demanding world. Therapy can enable you to delve deeper through inner child work and reparenting yourself to heal your trauma wounds and move forward. Asking for help and obtaining a fresh perspective of your past is the first and most profound step toward developing the mental muscle needed to attain emotional and mental strength.

Or maybe you’re your worried about their self-esteem? If you or your child can relate, I can help your preteen reach mental, emotional and social wellbeing.

Finding the right therapist can be a long and difficult process, however, it is crucial to find a therapist that can understand, accept and support you. What I offer to my clients is a safe, non- judgemental and confidential environment where they can gain a greater insight on their core strengths and values to help them achieve their therapeutic goals. As someone who was faced with challenges such as ADHD, having a brother with Autism, etc. I can relate to my clients on a more personal level and with this experience I can help you navigate through these tough times. I enjoy working with teenagers, adults, couples, refugees etc.

Change is constantly unfolding around us, without always our awareness. You may be experiencing a lot of transitions and perhaps even some uncertainty. You may be quietly asking yourself, is therapy for me? Will it help me? I want you to remember that, change is a constant. I have over two decades of experience working with children, youth, and families. I utilize a number of different therapeutic approaches to practice, namely: Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), Narrative Therapy and Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT).

We all have blind spots and limiting beliefs that stop us from healing and making a change. I can show you what yours are and help you get past them because I have experienced similar challenges: the death of my loved ones, divorce, and moving to a new country alone. I know it’s not easy to make changes when life’s challenges bring us turmoil, uncertainty, and feelings of losing our sense of self. I’m here to help you find the tools to get back to being you. Together, we work towards uncovering your ability to use your strengths in tackling and overcoming obstacles and barriers, so you can feel empowered and at peace.

Has "getting by" become a way of life? Are you feeling hijacked by anxiety, stuck in cyclical low mood, or simply overwhelmed in relationship dynamics? Toxic stress and trauma destabilize our nervous system and shake up our sense of safety and control. In therapy, we open the doorway to understanding and neutralizing the roots of your triggers. Trauma-informed therapy works to stabilize your brain and body so that surviving transforms into thriving. It empowers you to restore balance within... to become the architect of your mind... and to cultivate a resilient self, unburdened by the past or life's circumstances.

Our life experiences have shaped our perceptions, coping methods and relationships. For 25+ years I have researched symptoms (e.g., depression and anxiety): how they develop from life experiences, and how to dismantle them in therapy. Together, we will work to assist you in overcoming your sadness, fears, worries, and low self-esteem while helping you navigate stressors at home, work and family. I will provide you with a safe, non-judgmental and friendly space. We can build on your courage to support your healing and growth. Therapy offers freedom to explore with compassion, to find stability, and to create new possibilities.

It's not just you, life HAS gotten harder in the last few years. If you've been powering through, staying strong and carrying on, but now you're barely getting by and you're tired of feeling like you're not really living your life, it might be time for outside support. The benefit of therapy is that it's a time where you get to focus on yourself, to look at your life, and to get an outside perspective on how it could be different. You don't have to just endure, with the right support, you can heal from the past, and move forward towards a better future.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
Most Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are certified by one of the main professional associations, mainly the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), and will have a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) designation with their name. Social Workers listed in the directory must be registered members of the college specific to their province. To be listed in the directory, Psychologists must be registered with the psychological college specific to their province or territory.
Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given the considerable variation in professional regulation and prerequisites across Canadian provinces, some providers may possess significant professional qualifications without necessarily holding professional memberships or being obliged to acquire them. As a result, they may be selectively included without the "Verified" seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?
Psychologists, counsellors, psychotherapists and social workers can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and supervised, practical experience that enable them to do so in Canada.
Psychologists have a master's and/or doctoral degree and have passed both written and oral exams. Psychologists are able to complete mental health assessments and provide diagnostic information to clients as well as provide counselling therapy or psychotherapy. Counsellors and psychotherapists are expected to have a master's or doctoral degree in counselling psychology, social work, or a related mental health discipline and certification by a professional association, such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Registered Social Workers possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work and where possible must be licensed or certified by the provincial government and/or regulatory college.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, the cost of a therapy session in Canada could be between $100 and $200. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. Some types of outpatient mental health services are covered by Medicare, provided these are performed by a licensed mental health professional in the provinces or territory you reside in and who accepts the assignment.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postal code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Professionals licensed by regulatory colleges and those certified by associations such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association are obligated to uphold client confidentiality unless there is a legal reason that requires them to disclose information. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there is the potential or known harm to the client or others, or a court order, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
