I offer individual and couples talk therapy to adults, bringing warmth, empathy and patience into each interaction. My aim is to make therapy a safe, comfortable and non-judgmental space where the healing process can take place. I practice through a strengths-based lens, tailoring my approach to fit each individual's diverse background. I integrate various evidence-based treatments to support my patients in developing better self-awareness, feeling “unstuck” and learning new skills (e.g. cognitive behavioural therapy, emotional focused therapy, attachment theory and mindfulness techniques).

My passion for mental health started early, realizing the importance of how our mental well-being affects all aspects of our life, and how it’s connected to our physical well-being too. I see it as a privilege to be part of my client’s journey in recovery and healing. Throughout the years, I have seen the strength and resiliency of my clients which shows that change is possible. I’m a firm believer that a diagnosis does not define us, even though it can affect many aspects of our life.

You might be struggling with your relationships, current events or life experiences. You might be feeling a ‘stuckness’ in ways of thinking and behaving or your sense of yourself. Therapy offers a process to find new awareness and understanding, new ways to cope, clarify and resolve difficulties, and change and grow in meaningful ways. Various difficulties bring people to therapy. Some are dilemmas in personal, family and professional relationships. Some are anxiety, depression, and troubling internal conflicts. People can feel low self-esteem, a sense of inauthenticity and purposelessness.

When we are left to our own thoughts and feelings, we may be stuck in viewing ourselves, situation, and the world in a negative lens. Our thoughts are not always true and much of what we think is learned. Fortunately then, we can learn more balanced and healthier ways of thinking that can make our daily lives more pleasurable, efficient, and enjoyable.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postcode.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In Canada, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or province where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
How much does therapy cost?
Some forms of mental health treatment (for example, seeing a psychiatrist, or seeing a psychologist in a government-funded hospital) are free under provincial health plans. Canadians who seek private counseling can typically expect to pay an average of $150 per session, although the actual price generally ranges between $100 and $3200 per session, depending on their location and the type of provider they select. Workplace benefits or private insurance plans often provide an annual counselling allowance, and some therapists offer sliding scale fees to clients who cannot pay full price.
