I use the most effective therapies available such as CBT and the Gottman Method.
Do you doubt your decisions while also dreading the future? Maybe it’s too hard to get going in the morning because you’re not sure what matters anymore. I’m guessing you’ve perhaps tried therapy or other treatments which may have helped temporarily, while your life eventually returned to the status quo. I’ve seen many people suffer for too long unnecessarily. That’s what makes me passionate about providing therapy that really makes a difference. I offer effective treatments for anxiety, depression, relationship issues, grief, and more. I also support those in the LGBTQ community, who may deal with these and other challenges.

I have completed Level 3 of the Gottman method in couples therapy and have found it to be an excellent approach in fostering that emotional connection which is essential to a satisfying and loving relationship.
I believe strongly in the resiliency of the human spirit and, as a therapist, I look for ways to build upon the unique strengths each person or couple brings into the counseling office. It is essential that clients feel accepted and understood and begin to experience freedom from guilt and shame. Guilt is resolved through forgiveness and shame through self-acceptance. I always feel humbled by the courage my clients exhibit as they share their deepest struggles and honored for the trust they give to me.

I am also a couples therapist that uses The Gottman Method (Level One).
My speciality is in queer-identity work. The Queer Experience often comes with some growing pains, and subsequent wounds. Most of my clients are people who first healed these wounds through overachievement & overcompensation, but overlooked the limitations that came with these coping mechanisms. Let's break the patterns and confront the void. You deserve peace.

In addition to the extensive education and training required for my license, I have advanced certifications in EMDR therapy for trauma, and Gottman Method couples counseling.
At a glance, psychotherapy is a service offered by licensed counselors to treat mental illness & improve wellbeing. To the initiated, however, it is much more. Therapy is powerful. Its focus and impact can vary from person to person. To some, therapy means relief from suffering. For others, it means having access to safety, compassion, and understanding. It’s also used to increase confidence, improve relationships, explore identity, and more. I believe therapy is most effective when it is collaborative and flexible. My approach is to combine my clinical experience with my clients' natural strengths to help them achieve their goals.

I use the Gottman Method to work with Couples.
It has never been more imperative that we take care of our mental health and wellness. There is so much to decompress from daily, that sometimes we find ourselves overwhelmed. Sometimes you want to find a therapist that will support you, and other times you may be looking for direction and challenge. During this time of the Pandemic and ongoing political and social unrest, consider caring for yourself, first. As you grow this work into consistent practice, you will find more gratitude and mindfulness even during difficult times. I look forward to serving you.

Online Therapists

Is online therapy as effective as in-person?

Numerous studies suggest that online therapy can be as effective as in-person therapy. However, further research is needed to determine if online therapy provides the same benefits across all client populations. Individuals with severe mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, or those who may benefit from in-person check-ins, like those with eating disorders, may not experience the same level of benefit from online therapy. Nonetheless, the success of online therapy, much like in-person therapy, often hinges on the quality of the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client rather than the specific modality of therapy used.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of therapy conducted online?

One of the main advantages of online therapy is its convenience for both clients and therapists. It also allows clients who require specialized therapy to access a wider range of professionals than they could with only in-person sessions. Additionally, online therapy may be a more affordable option in some cases and often offers the same insurance benefits as in-person therapy. However, online therapy may not be suitable for everyone, especially those who value face-to-face interaction with a therapist. Therapists may find it more challenging to assess clients accurately in an online setting due to reduced nonverbal cues on camera. There is also the increased risk that disruptions caused by external factors, such as technology malfunctions, can hinder the therapy session. For these reasons, many therapists offer a "hybrid" therapeutic approach, alternating between seeing clients in-person and online.

Is online therapy suitable for children and adolescents?

Just like with adults, the accessibility and convenience of online therapy can greatly benefit children and adolescents. In fact, children and adolescents may be more accustomed to navigating online platforms than older adults, making online sessions feel more natural for them. Teens might also be interested in using additional online tools, such as therapist-recommended apps, as an adjunct to online therapy sessions. Apps for developing CBT skills, practicing mindfulness exercises, or tracking thoughts and moods can be helpful for teens receiving therapy. However, it's important to note that not all therapeutic modalities are well-suited to online therapy, especially those used with younger children. For example, play therapy, which helps younger children express their emotions, often requires in-person sessions to be fully effective.

Can I receive prescriptions and medication management with online therapy?

The ability for psychiatrists to prescribe medications through online therapy varies based on the medication and the states where the medical professional and client are located. While many prescribing regulations were relaxed during the COVID-19 pandemic, some states still enforce rules, especially concerning controlled substances, which may mandate an in-person visit before prescribing. Generally, however, medical professionals can prescribe non-controlled substances through online therapy sessions just as they do during in-person sessions.
