At a glance, psychotherapy is a service offered by licensed counselors to treat mental illness & improve wellbeing. To the initiated, however, it is much more. Therapy is powerful. Its focus and impact can vary from person to person. To some, therapy means relief from suffering. For others, it means having access to safety, compassion, and understanding. It’s also used to increase confidence, improve relationships, explore identity, and more. I believe therapy is most effective when it is collaborative and flexible. My approach is to combine my clinical experience with my clients' natural strengths to help them achieve their goals.

Prior to opening my private practice, I gained experience in a variety of mental health settings including outpatient, inpatient psychiatric, residential rehab, and non-profit. In addition to the extensive education and training required for my license, I have advanced certifications in EMDR therapy for trauma, and Gottman Method couples counseling.

I understand it can feel overwhelming to start counseling. Many find it difficult to ask for help or to give attention to their needs. Others are excited to begin, but get stuck in the time-consuming tasks of googling counselors, comparing costs, or playing phone tag. I keep that in mind and make it as easy as possible to begin the process of healing.
