Ever since I was a nursing student, I’ve been captivated by the power of genuine connection in mental health care. Over the past 15 years, I’ve immersed myself in everything from critical care to research on disorders like schizophrenia and depression—all to better serve each person I meet. By truly listening, I tailor treatment to the individual rather than just the diagnosis. My style is both empathetic and straightforward, so you know exactly what to expect as we work together. Ultimately, my goal is to help you feel seen, heard, and hopeful about your next steps.

This summer I am focusing in working with couples! Both couples that are young in relationship and age and couples that are new in relationship with a bit more life experience under their belt. New relationships can be challenging to navigate as each of you adjust to a new normal. We can focus on creating new habits for a new relationship, developing rituals that strengthen your intimacy, communication that leads to connection, and how to navigate those times when you each need your own space. I also work with individuals who want to grow in their ability to say no, deepen intimacy, and those who intellectualize their feelings.

Hello, I'm glad you've made it this far. Clients who work with me often feel like an abbreviated version of themselves. They struggle to live authentically, which feels like constantly holding their breath. Clients are often so used to living for others that they don't know what they want. They are so disconnected from themselves that their desire makes them uncomfortable.

You’ve always been the one others count on—the one who always has it together. But lately, things don’t feel right. What once brought you joy now feels empty, and you find you're withdrawing from loved ones. With that, relationships feel harder than ever. Maybe you’re deep in a breakup or feeling stuck in a relationship that’s no longer fulfilling. Dating feels overwhelming, like you just can’t seem to get it right. You’ve started to wonder if this is just how life is now—feeling disconnected, unsure of your purpose, and emotionally drained. When you think about asking for help, you worry about feeling judged or like a burden.

Hi there. How's it going? No, really. I’m interested in the honest answer. Because in times like these, when every headline feels heavier than the last and everything around you feels uncertain, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, stuck, or like you’ve lost your footing. When you’re not running around in a near-constant state of stress, you’re zoning out, self-medicating, or trying the latest self-care tip you heard on that one podcast in an attempt to quiet the existential dread. Maybe you're a burned-out college student, a frustrated millennial, or a couple feeling disconnected in the chaos.

Are you navigating conflicting messages about who you should be from family, society, or yourself? Are you carrying the weight of trauma tied to your cultural or familial experiences? Are you the only one in your family trying to break harmful generational patterns? Many of my clients resonate with these questions. You may feel isolated in your efforts to heal and grow or overwhelmed by the weight of the past traumas or systemic injustice. You're seeking connection and support from someone who "gets it"—someone who can relate to their experiences and provide a collaborative, culturally attuned approach to healing.

Life is messy and complex. We all want to bring order into many areas of our lives. Where we miss the mark is thinking the goal is to completely solve every issue so we don't experience pain or suffering. Personally, professional or romantically we are going to have deficits. And along with that are the trappings of guilt, shame, fear and anxiety about them and even how to deal with them. But once you have done the work that brought you here originally you will be able to navigate life more effectively. And we both know you can live with that.

Is online therapy as effective as in-person?

Numerous studies suggest that online therapy can be as effective as in-person therapy. However, further research is needed to determine if online therapy provides the same benefits across all client populations. Individuals with severe mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, or those who may benefit from in-person check-ins, like those with eating disorders, may not experience the same level of benefit from online therapy. Nonetheless, the success of online therapy, much like in-person therapy, often hinges on the quality of the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client rather than the specific modality of therapy used.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of therapy conducted online?

One of the main advantages of online therapy is its convenience for both clients and therapists. It also allows clients who require specialized therapy to access a wider range of professionals than they could with only in-person sessions. Additionally, online therapy may be a more affordable option in some cases and often offers the same insurance benefits as in-person therapy. However, online therapy may not be suitable for everyone, especially those who value face-to-face interaction with a therapist. Therapists may find it more challenging to assess clients accurately in an online setting due to reduced nonverbal cues on camera. There is also the increased risk that disruptions caused by external factors, such as technology malfunctions, can hinder the therapy session. For these reasons, many therapists offer a "hybrid" therapeutic approach, alternating between seeing clients in-person and online.

Is online therapy suitable for children and adolescents?

Just like with adults, the accessibility and convenience of online therapy can greatly benefit children and adolescents. In fact, children and adolescents may be more accustomed to navigating online platforms than older adults, making online sessions feel more natural for them. Teens might also be interested in using additional online tools, such as therapist-recommended apps, as an adjunct to online therapy sessions. Apps for developing CBT skills, practicing mindfulness exercises, or tracking thoughts and moods can be helpful for teens receiving therapy. However, it's important to note that not all therapeutic modalities are well-suited to online therapy, especially those used with younger children. For example, play therapy, which helps younger children express their emotions, often requires in-person sessions to be fully effective.

Can I receive prescriptions and medication management with online therapy?

The ability for psychiatrists to prescribe medications through online therapy varies based on the medication and the states where the medical professional and client are located. While many prescribing regulations were relaxed during the COVID-19 pandemic, some states still enforce rules, especially concerning controlled substances, which may mandate an in-person visit before prescribing. Generally, however, medical professionals can prescribe non-controlled substances through online therapy sessions just as they do during in-person sessions.
