I am a Marriage and Family Therapist specialized to work with couples struggling with intercultural differences. You might feel like there is a disconnect between you and your partner which has led you to feel distant from each other. Maybe you disagree on how to raise the children, or what traditions and routines should look like in your family. These differences may also show up in your relationship with extended family. You are tired of discussing these topics and always ending in an argument with your partner. You want to feel closer to your partner, but you feel stuck and do not know how to make things better.

Life can be so overwhelming. You may have found yourself in a relationship where you cannot communicate effectively and the connection you once had is no longer there. The relationship you envisioned for yourself seems so out of reach. Maybe you are feeling anxious or depressed and don’t know if it will ever get better. You have a hard time managing your thoughts and feelings and wish you could take back control. This is not the life or relationship that you envisioned for yourself.

Paralyzed, drowning, devastated, broken, stuck. I have heard many of these descriptions in initial appointments with clients. I am then humbled and amazed as these words evolve to relieved, empowered, valued, strong, and resilient as we work together in treatment. I am a marriage and family therapist offering teletherapy and in-person therapy services to my fellow Texans. In treatment, I focus on working with you to develop and maximize your distinct strengths to overcome the concerns you are presently encountering. I use research backed approaches that are uniquely tailored to you.

This is where you learn to love and like yourself, maybe for the first time. I have helped 1000s. This is your flying lesson!

I approach therapy with the mindset that every client has internal skills that give them the ability to reach personal goals. With an integrative client-centered approach, the client takes the lead as the expert to their life and patterns of behaviors, and I help guide the client to uncover causes of core beliefs systems that fuel areas of concern. My role in this process is to support clients with encouragement while also maintaining accountability for positive change.

Accepting new clients! Our emotional health can be like a gas line. Properly maintained it provides our life with warmth. But when things go wrong, it can explode or leak into the ground causing a dead spot in the grass. Are you leaving behind charred remnants of dreams and relationships? Or feeling deadness seeping into your bone? Are you ready to feel alive again, young again, hopeful again? I want to help. I offer trauma informed, compassion and consent based therapy.

Accepting new clients! The therapeutic process is a healing process. Healing takes place both internally and within the context of relationship. We constantly shift and change day to day, week to week, year to year. Changes can be going from sleeping to waking, from changing our routines, or outdated patterning. Changes can come in the form of a new baby, a new marriage, a new job; and they can also be divorce, death, health issues, or a sudden move. Inherent in every change is a level of questioning, worry, and concern either internal or external. I do believe change is a wonderfully empowering catalyst to growth and healing.

Now accepting new talk therapy and EMDR clients. — My goal is to partner with you in discovering your own, unique, ability to heal. I believe that hope, wholeness, and peace are all possible, but that sometimes we need assistance in finding them. Coping with the reality of our story can be difficult when it is not as we originally wished it to be. Together we can make meaning of your story and find the strength that lies within it. My approach to therapy is to assist you in doing the difficult work of uncovering your true, fully-alive self, amidst this present pain.

How can I find a therapist in Lubbock?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
