You deserve therapy as unique as you are. I am a master's degree (M.S.-R.L.S.) Recreational Therapist (RT) in private practice at Inclusion Therapies. I provide outpatient rehabilitation Recreational Therapy (i.e., Experiential Activity-Based) for mental and physical optimum health (both online telehealth and in-person sessions). At our Lake Travis location, the Center for Therapeutic Recreation Technology (CTRT), we provide techniques including biofeedback, Ecotherapy (Nature therapy), video gaming, and virtual reality therapy. In the greater Austin, Texas area we provide limited Community-Based sessions.

The idea of going to counseling can be stressful. Some believe counseling is for people who are severely disturbed or have extraordinary problems. Counseling is for everyone as we all experience stress, family issues, relationship problems, and confusion while making decisions. Everyone's problems are unique; therefore, your treatment will be to be customized to meet your treatment goals at your own pace. My commitment is to be thorough and careful but also to not prolong your treatment longer than necessary.

Bolivar is a native of South Florida, where he attended Florida State University’s School of Social Work. His studies focused on child welfare and cultural studies. He graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor’s degree in International Affairs and Social Work. Immediately following his undergraduate studies, Bolivar knew his life’s work would be helping youth overcome trauma and strengthen families. These passions led Bolivar to a Master’s Degree in Social Work with a concentration in Child Welfare Studies.

Sometimes life and things get to be "a bit too much." We all deal with things differently. My focus is helping clients chart a path towards greater wellbeing and fulfillment, so that they can ultimately live a happy and healthy life that matters. This means an individualized treatment plan and goals which we will collaborate together. My work is insight driven. Hello, I'm Dennis Alvarez. Counseling should encourage and challenge individuals to meet their fullest potential by addressing their mental, emotional, and spiritual needs. When I work with clients, I like to help them understand how and why certain behaviors or patterns of behaviors occur. I work with individuals with a history of depression, anxiety, trauma, and substance abuse issues.

I specialize in helping clients mindfully explore deep meaning, stress, and anxiety. My client diagnoses specializations include schizophrenia, bipolar, intellectual disability, dual-diagnosis disorders, and complex trauma. My passion is to help my clients develop a deeply understanding relationship to themselves, and by extension, to others. It is a healing journey for all of us. Consultation is specifically to treatment placement support for families who have adult children with dual-diagnosis and personality disorders.

I have been a counselor for more than 30 years. I remain passionate about making a difference in the lives of others and believe that genuine caring is an essential element to an effective counseling relationship. Over the years I have worked with clients with significant trauma and loss. I consider it a privilege to stand with another individual as he or she resolves great pain. At the Child Behavior Center we work with you, and with your child. To help a child, we must help mom and dad too! We assist you in navigating the ups and downs of frustrating, often puzzling child behavior. Specializing in treatment for high functioning autism (Aspergers Syndrome in the past,) PDD (pervasive developmental delay), and many children with behavioral differences and challenges, we design treatment plans individualized for neuroatypical, developmentally challenged children, children with high anxiety, anger, aggression, and sensory overload, among others. A natural partner with these problems is often social rejection.

The ideal client is one that is willing to work in session and practice out of session. I work best with clients that are willing to be honest and raw with me. I respect someone that can voice their truest thoughts/feelings/and behaviors because I will be equally direct with my identification of distortions in their thoughts and actions. The greatest acceptance of ourselves can only be achieved with an honest look inward. This honesty allows us see what strengths we desire to build and what needs we can reduce. With this direct, loving, and accepting approach, the counseling process can be maximized in its efficacy.

My behavioral health work began in 1988, with adolescents and their families, branching into extremely effective work with addictions and couples counseling. I am trained in EMDR & Brainspotting (BSP), a very fast paced healing process for all types of trauma, PTSD, abuse issues, anxiety, overwhelming emotions, grief issues and cravings. I work most quickly with athletes suffering from mental blocks, injuries and other issues inhibiting performance even though the injury is completely healed. Many of my athletic clients have completed in just a two hour session.
