Hi, So as a Certified Life Coach one of my main goals is to help you move forward in your life, as opposed to a Counselor who may focus more on understanding your past traumas and the relationships from your past. So some of the main tools I utilize in my coaching are Empathic Listening and Energy Psychology. Energy Psychology is a blend of spiritual practices and psychology. One of the core belief's I work from is that our conscious and sub-conscious negative feelings, ideas, beliefs and emotions affect our ability to access our unique inner power, strength's, gifts and talents and move forward within our lives with enjoyment.

We are all a work in progress. Maybe you are… struggling with communication and conflict, feeling overwhelmed by grief and pain, looking to find fulfillment in your life, don't know who you or your partner is anymore, wondering how to address past issues/traumas with your partner, feeling burdened by life and choices, or want to foster more meaningful relationships... Maybe none of these fit you, but instead, you have other reasons for looking for a therapist that focuses on relationships. I am here to help you along that path.

We all face challenges throughout our lives. Now, we face the stress of the Coronavirus which seems to increase daily. My focus is on helping individuals see what anxiety is—it started out as a protective strategy. Its job was to make you aware of all possible problems before they even arise…and then it got out of control. You can learn how to handle your stress differently. Remember, it is how you handle a challenge that makes the experience a "grind" or a "growing experience".

I am qualified to handle many concerns such as relationship struggles, trauma, life transitions, grief, loss of a child, anxiety, self-esteem issues, etc. I am also EMDR trained, Trauma & Grief certified. I strive to build a collaborative relationship built on respect and trust, meeting each client exactly where they are by using client-centered and solution-focused approaches. I work to foster a safe and supportive environment where client and counselor can effectively work together to resolve problems.

The highly sensitive person (HSP) faces unique problems. Even if (like many) you have a sense you were born to help others, their emotions wear you out, depleting your energy. Most of your emotional life may be coping with others' unresolved emotions you've been carrying around, which do little but drain you. Seeking to rid yourself of those emotions, you have developed any of a range of emotional or psychological problems, including anxiety, depression, a personality disorder, or compulsive emotional numbing behavior (like perfectionism, people pleasing, overeating, substance use, or compulsive sexual behavior).

Your partner is arguing with you about a fight from last week. He’s raising his voice, but all you hear is a voice in your head saying, “How did we get here?” You once shared a deep sense of connection and understanding and now barely make it through the week without bickering. It breaks your heart. The spark between you is gone, and the only time you’re fired up is while blaming one another. It’s devastating to feel the dreams you shared slipping away from you. You’re lonely, misunderstood, and there is a chasm in your bed that’s impossible to cross. You miss the intimacy and love you used to have. You miss your partner's love.

Meanings are not determined by situations, but we determine ourselves by the meanings we give to situations. -Alfred Adler. My favorite quote. I am primarily Adlerian, though I have developed an eclectic therapeutic style over the past 13 years. There is no "one size fits all" therapeutic intervention. I believe therapy must take into account the patient's whole environment, including the people the patient associates with. We all have individual experiences that influence who we are and our struggles in life. We have the power to define life or be defined by life.

How can I find a therapist in Georgetown?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
