I have worked for several decades with individuals, couple's and families who have struggled with personal, relational, marital and family issues. I guess that qualifies me as a "seasoned" therapist. Among the many issues that clients have brought to their work with me are acute and chronic anxiety, depression, grief and loss, relationship issues and longing for personal growth. I have extensive experience in dealing with marital and couple's problems. As a survivor or child loss, I have particular expertise is working with bereaved parents.

I work with grief & loss, trauma, OCD, PTSD, physical assault & porn addictions.
I see counseling as a walk between two people, a time to discuss the ups and downs of life. I am person centered; solution focused and draw from a wide range of CBT mindfulness and Accelerated Resolution Therapy techniques that will help my clients find their own unique path in life. I am open to all ages and stages of life and have a special place in my heart for all military and first responders. As a solution focused therapist, I use counseling techniques that fit your specific needs and goals, I don't believe in a one size fits all therapy. I look forward to meeting you and working towards meeting your needs.

mood disorders, couples therapy, attachment, grief and anxiety disorders.
My passion is to work with those who have struggled with the challenges of life; trauma, addiction, relationship issues, mood disorders, grief, attachment, career issues or any stress contributing to anxiety. They may have sought therapy in the past and have become discouraged, for whatever reason. The foundation of therapy is the therapeutic alliance. When one suffers various disorders, life becomes dull and motivation to live according to one's values instead of one's fears is threatened. It is critical that the therapist be attuned to the worldview of the client to facilitate healing, self acceptance and self compassion.

I am deeply passionate about providing a safe space for people to explore their stories and working collaboratively with them toward growth and healing. I believe that as human beings we are hurt in relationships with others as well as healed through relationships with others. As a fellow human, I know what it is to hurt, experience loss, and go through immense heartache. My goal in counseling is to humbly walk alongside people in whatever season they are in, and I cater my counseling style for each individual person, couple or family.

I welcome the opportunity to create space for you to acknowledge and explore the painful aspects of loss and change, while also inviting room for possibilities of healing, regrounding and reconnection.
Times of transition can leave us feeling disoriented, uprooted, and tug at old emotional wounds. Finding our way through the rocky terrain of loss often compels us to reshape priorities, redefine ourselves, and re-imagine our future. If you are grieving the death of someone in your life, facing an uncertain diagnosis, an empty nest, the loss of a relationship, changing employment, adjusting to a geographical move, or experiencing other significant changes in your life, it would be my honor to support you in exploring the layers of your loss, finding your footing again, and restoring your hope for a meaningful future.

I specialize in working with adults around a wide assortment of issues and concerns including grief and loss, codependency, self-esteem, depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction and other life challenges.
I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor, a Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist and a Certified Clinical Supervisor. I have also completed three years of training in Somatic Experiencing (SE) which is a body-awareness approach to trauma. Dr. Peter Levine realized that human beings have an innate ability to overcome the effects of trauma. SE supports our bodies to access our body's innate wisdom and apply it to healing and resolving the effects of trauma. What I love most about my work is being allowed on the journey with individuals and families as they grow and heal emotionally and spiritually.

However, couples counseling, anxiety, depression, grief, identity development, men’s issues, relationship concerns, trauma, and women’s health represent my particular passions.
The core of effective therapy involves creating a trusting and supportive therapeutic relationship where you can be yourself. In my work with individual adults and couples, I focus on building this foundation so we can explore those deeper emotions (anger, fear, grief, shame) and promote more supportive connections. My approach is flexible and completely dependent on your needs, but my goal is always to make you feel more whole, whether that means discussing the past, exploring the present, or focusing on the future.

People show up to work with me because they're grappling with a new life situation, processing grief for a lost loved one, managing anxiety or depression, seeking greater connection with others, trying to heal a relationship, or just looking for a safe place to talk things through. I believe everyone has their own inner wisdom, and I want to help people recognize and attune to that wisdom, to help them reverse negative cycles and rewrite stories that create hardship and hold them back from finding meaning, fulfillment, and joy in life.

I also work with people who have lost a loved one to a sudden death, such as homicide, suicide, or accidents.
Working with a therapist should feel safe, and that has remained one of my top priorities over my 10+ years of providing therapy. Some of my clients have had therapists before, some are changing therapists, and others are brand new to therapy. Many of my clients are working through previous trauma (childhood and adulthood), have experienced complicated loss, and many belong to a marginalized community. Some of my clients benefit from long-term therapy, while others engage in brief therapy to help get back on track to a better quality of life. Wherever you are in this process, I welcome you!

Hello! I'm truly glad you've decided to embark on this journey. Making the choice to enter therapy is courageous, and it speaks volumes about your strength. Your story is significant—it's woven into the fabric of who you are today. I believe that profound transformations often begin by understanding our pasts and nurturing the wounded parts of ourselves. In my practice, my aim is to foster a safe and judgment-free space where healing and growth can flourish. Many of the individuals I work with struggle with issues like anxiety, depression, addiction, betrayal trauma, grief, and experiences of abuse.

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
