I work from a non-judgmental, client focused stance with interests in: Love and Relationship Issues, Addiction, Anger, Compulsive behaviors, Stagnation, and grieving.
I work with people who wish to change self-limiting beliefs and destructive behaviors. I'll assist them in becoming aware of triggers, habits and unexamined assumptions which keep them stuck in repetitive cycles. By developing insight and understanding, they're often empowered to make new choices that are more in harmony with who they are and what they truly want.

I help adults, couples, and teens feel better, less stuck, and more aligned in their relationships, careers, and creative pursuits. My office is a judgment-free place to explore thoughts and feelings, no matter how banal or extreme they may seem. Together we identify patterns and adaptations that no longer serve us. As we become less reactive, we find we have more agency in our lives than we could have imagined. We communicate better with others, develop meaningful relationships, and begin to live the lives we always dreamed of living.

In couples therapy I help the partners see the repetitive exchanges that lead to alienation and isolation.
In individual therapy I join with the patient to establish a relationship in which we will explore developmental relational issues that cause pain and suffering. Such issues begin as intense emotions, but they can be understood, accepted, and integrated. This process leads to healing and change. Life takes on new perspectives as the emotional self provides new information about the external and internal world that brings stability and vitality to the personality. The relationship between us deepens allowing us to explore the complex dimensions of personality that allow for growth and development unique to the individual.

If you feel that you are ready to heal yourself, your relationship, and find your true self, let's connect.
You are in search of healing for your soul. Perhaps life is far from what you imagined it would be, and you need help finding yourself again. Heartbreaking life events have left you questioning who you are and what you value. You've tried numbing or distracting yourself from your pain, avoiding thinking about it, and outright denying it exists- yet none of it has worked. You feel ready to try something different. My clients often value self-growth, truth, insight, and are deep thinkers. They are looking for someone to walk with them and help them reckon with the fearful, unknown parts of themselves and desire to become whole.

With couples I often use Emotionally Focused Therapy, The Gottman Method, and Imago Relationship Therapy.
At some point we all struggle to adjustment to life's changes; it's normal to feel stuck and I believe people have what it takes to adjust. For the past 20 years, I have been working with children and teens who are struggling to balance the demands of school and their social life. I integrate parents in my work as much as possible. I also work with adults and Couples often come to me for help in distress and are confused about how or why their relationship has derailed. I am dedicated to helping people build stronger; more intimate relationships and I use several modalities when attempting to help couples in distress.

For couples: manage conflict with tangible communication skills and strengthen emotional and sexual intimacy.
With a blend of solution-focused therapy and Buddhist mindfulness teachings, I help my clients develop skills to relate more effectively with their anxieties and sense of self, navigate the complexities of dating or marriage, and engage with life’s most prevalent existential questions. I’m a firm believer in taking control of one’s circumstances through agency and self-compassion. What my clients learn: manage anxiety in a culture that promotes urgency, strategies for dealing with stress, self-awareness in ones dating patterns and how to work through them, and differentiating between intuition and fear.

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
