Do you feel stress and anxiety from the sport that you play? Do you feel constant pressure to perform at your best and the results are not showing the way you want? Do you find it hard to relax and to find a sense of calmness while you perform? If you answered yes to those questions or just feel you are not yourself then therapy can be a great solution to getting you back in stride. I like to include a lot of mindfulness and relaxation skills when we work together. I also use EMDR and give you the tools to be able to find your zone and perform at a higher level. I am open to all sports and all levels of athletes.

The Center, founded in 2012 by Christine Benvenuto, MFT and Heather Macbeth, MFT, has evolved beyond its roots while maintaining a firm foundation in DBT. We incorporate other evidenced-based, experiential, and depth-oriented approaches, including working within expanded states of consciousness via Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy. We have an integrative Team that meets weekly where we receive regular outside training and consultation so that we can provide state of the art clinical services.
Given our rapidly changing world, with multiple demands on our attention while being faced with polarizing societal forces, we aim to support.

I love helping my clients not just survive, but thrive. Whether or not you've tried therapy before, deciding to get experienced support is the first step to a better life. While some of my clients initially reach out in moments of crisis or great need, others are doing fine or even "thriving" (in the eyes of peers and loved ones) but feel like they can build greater happiness and meaning with a regular therapeutic relationship. You'll gain personal insight, a stronger confidence in your choices and greater resiliency in navigating life and relationship challenges.

I help creative, sensitive women in New York and California heal at the root from trauma and depression — especially when symptoms have been present for years or even decades. Many of my clients have experienced medically unexplained pain, have been on antidepressants long-term, or have felt stuck in talk therapy without lasting change, and without coming into full creative and erotic expression.

My approach to therapy is focused on facilitating change in both perception and behavior leading to enhanced quality of life. The process is focused both historically (looking at early developmental experience) and in the moment (current perceptions, fears, and values that shape our current behavior). I find we each view the world in a unique way related specifically to our own developmental experiences and that view shapes what we expect from ourselves and others. It affects the decisions we make, and the direction our life takes, sometimes without us being fully aware of this powerful influencing force.

I believe the most important element in the therapeutic relationship is the connection between therapist and client -- person to person. What I bring to the relationship is warmth, caring, and a gentle and compassionate presence. I have a deep faith in your ability to transform your life, empowering you to discover what works and change what doesn't, helping you find your own truth and path. My approach is gentle, yet potent. Using EMDR (www.emdr.com) and EFT (www.emofree.com) as highly effective tools, I help you to release negative patterns and beliefs and build upon your positive resources and strengths.
