There have been many times in my life when I have needed a counselor. Whether it was to help in figuring out my next step in school, what track I needed to take in college, or even talking about my own personal struggles, counselors have played a role in my life and have helped me achieve many of my goals. I came to appreciate the role of a counselor and the hard work and dedication it takes to walk alongside clients and their journey. Therapy is hard work, and it is a task that many don’t want to face alone.

For over 20 years, I have gotten to do what I love every day. I believe the healing journey is sacred. Allowing someone to walk with you on this journey is always an honor and privilege. I provide therapy services for individuals needing behavioral health support to write the next chapter in their lives. This is done by assisting individuals in recognizing options, problem-solving, identifying and using resources, trying things a new way, encouraging them to discover and build on their strengths and supporting the people they care about. The first step on this journey begins with you.

My passion is to help people live their life more fully. I start with a person's strengths and help a person develop tools to manage their emotions, traumas and/or mental illness. I offer telehealth, virtual therapy sessions. My work integrates many different therapeutic styles and techniques depending on what fits best with the client and their situation. Some of these include Trauma-Focused CBT, Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) skills, Family Therapy, EMDR and EFT Tapping. I run DBT groups to teach people skills with mindfulness, emotional regulation, interpersonal effectiveness skills and distress tolerance skills.

Telehealth/virtual counseling only. I am open: Monday, Tuesday daytime and some evening possibly. I make time for businesses needing a Critical Incident Stress Management specialist for a traumatic situation in the workplace. I supervise therapists seeking supervision hours for full licensure, and I am an AAMFT Approved Supervisor and Washington state approved supervisor. I help those with relationship issues or adjustments such as divorce, a move in career or home location, losses or kids growing up and leaving home, or struggling to navigate and adjust to chronic illness, and grief and loss, just to name a few topics.

I work extensively with past/childhood trauma, divorces, family conflict, grief, and fear. The focus of my work is about acknowledging and releasing the beliefs we develop about ourselves from events that occur in the past that are hindering our True selves for flourishing in the present. As an original life coach and counselor of 40 years, I help people see all possibilities and make a greater vision of themselves, their unique talents, gifts and abilities. I have been teaching seminars, workshops, and private sessions for my whole career. My unique healing modality, "The Clearing Process", is the basis for all 24 of my workshops.

As free human beings we have the gift of making choices in our life. One big choice is taking the opportunity to reach out for support and guidance when we aren’t operating at our optimal level. We often minimize our mental health needs; however, it is of vital importance to our overall well-being. Whatever your mental health needs are, the key role of a therapist is establishing a good therapeutic relationship. They need to be willing to walk with you for a time on your own individual journey. I am honored to be a therapist and have that opportunity to work with you.

I work with teens, adults, couples/partners and families. I utilize research backed therapies in my practice including but not limited to Family Systems, EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and the Gottman Method.

Dr. Deborah Rutt Phd, LCSW, CDWF is a one-of-a kind psychotherapist steeped in both Western and Eastern traditions. She helps clients identify unique strengths, new perspectives, and practical tools for profound change for mental health, well-being, and to live authentically. With a doctorate in interpersonal communication and change, Deborah brings her expertise to enhance relationships of any kind. In addition to therapy, she is a Certified facilitator of Brené Brown's work and inspired by Joe Dispenza's change solutions. Her Intuitive Heart Sessions, utilize Heartmath and ThetaHealing energy work along with her intuitive gifts.

My practice is eclectic in that it utilizes a variety of avenues, to help you meet your goals in treatment. I have over 20 years of experience in providing services to individuals and families. My background is in parenting, domestic abuse and substance use. I work closely with adults wanting a way out from negative cycles that are harmful and self defeating. I also provide support to individuals experiencing life transitions, where change may be a challenge. If you are feeling stuck and uncertain, I encourage you to consider a journey in healing.
