I am a licensed clinical neuropsychologist specializing in neuropsychological and psychodiagnostic evaluations and treatment. I work with adolescents and adults who present with cognitive changes in the context of neurological, medical, and psychiatric conditions. I am a graduate from the Illinois School Of Professional Psychology. I completed my training at the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago's Center for Pain Management (now known as the Shirley Ryan Ability Lab). I have worked in hospitals, outpatient mental health clinics, and long-term care facilities. As a licensed clinical psychologist, I have extensive experience treating adults and geriatrics with a wide variety of psychological issues. I treat a variety of conditions such as, depression, anxiety, chronic illness, relationship issues, and life adjustment difficulties. I am also on staff at the Amita neuroscience institute.

I'm a board-certified clinical neuropsychologist who helps individuals mainly impacted by ADHD and concussion/TBI. I offer individual therapy for ADHD (ages 18+) and neuropsychological assessments for ADHD, TBI, and other neurologic conditions (ages 14+). Therapeutically, I use cognitive behavioral therapy, assertiveness training, and motivational interviewing (MI) methods within the context of an empathic and cohesive therapeutic relationship. NOTE: Therapy openings are more limited than are assessment. I'm licensed in IL, NY, and can offer telehealth sessions to clients in Psypact-participating states.

Neuropsychological Testing. Objective assessment takes the guess work out of diagnosis. Avoid trial and error with medications and psychotherapy.

Dr. Ellison sees adult patients (16+) for comprehensive neuropsychological evaluations and has expertise not only in adults with concerns about changes in memory and/or thinking, but also in assessing younger adults for ruling out potentially undiagnosed neurodevelopmental disorders (e.g., ADHD, ASD). Dr. Ellison also has some openings for virtual private-pay cognitive rehabilitation, utilizing each patient’s unique strengths to improve and remediate cognitive and as well as daily functioning, aiming to promote overall wellness and independence.

I utilize a variety of therapeutic approaches with the belief that everyone's uniqueness requires an individualized approach to address his or her specific goals. In providing therapy, my goal is to establish a safe, therapeutic relationship with each client. This relationship will foster each client's ability to find their own resiliency to make the desired changes to enhance their life. I recognize change may be uncomfortable, however it is always possible.

I have been providing psychological and behavioral services in the Chicagoland and Grand Rapids, Michigan area for the last 14 years. In session I am empathetic and positive, working collaboratively with each client, in overcoming life challenges. Due to the vast amount of experience I have gained in both psychotherapy as well as behavioral modification, my therapeutic approach is diverse and can be non-directive, guiding the client at their own pace, or directive in nature. The Coronavirus Pandemic has created a collective trauma. There can be some comfort in knowing that everyone is making sacrifices in this new uncharted world; however, each person’s experience is unique. Often there are unexpected ups and downs in coping that can be surprising and catch us off guard. I specialize in working with clients facing issues of trauma. I have always been fascinated in how the mind naturally creates coping strategies to help get us through tough situations in its drive towards survival. Sometimes these strategies are helpful, but other times they can hinder us from living life to its fullest.

My immigrant experience from Taiwan allows me deeper empathy with people navigating life transitions and relating to different cultures and new relationships.
