In Psychotherapy, it is the relationship between the patient and the therapist that allows for the patient to search for understanding into the nature of their difficulties. It is within the safety, confidentiality and understanding acceptance that the patient is encouraged to reveal intimate parts of themselves that allow the therapist to identify characteristic problems and patterns of behavior. Seemingly unexplainable behavior, thought patterns and symptoms turn out to have identifiable meanings beyond the awareness of the patient. Psychodynamic psychotherapy is aimed at personality changing goals and symptom relieving efforts. The patient is always in control of the therapeutic process.

As a Therapist, I understand the value of working towards having balance in all of the areas - physically, socially, emotionally, mentally, spiritually, sexually and financially. But sometimes it can get rough! Tough seasons are bound to come whether we'd like them to or not, but the focus can't solely be on the effects of the storm. As a licensed clinical psychologist (my pronouns are she/her), I have over 20 years of experience in guiding, directing, challenging, and supporting people of all ages as they encounter difficulties in life. I conduct psychotherapy with adults, adolescents, and pre-teens. My approach to psychotherapy varies with the problems presented and the needs of each client. I blend research-based treatment approaches with a respect for each client's unique background and expectations to create a compassionate, individualized, and collaborative process for improvement and healing.

My therapeutic style caters sessions to each person individually. I have a passion for creating a warm, open space for clients to experience significant change in their lives, and find healing. I have experience working with a wide variety of clients, including children, adolescents and adults within agency, group practice and school settings. My main treatment specializations include depression, anxiety, trauma, C-PTSD, life adjustment issues, suicidal ideation and self-harm. Pursuing Peace is a non-profit that exist to help people find quality mental health treatment available to help clients deal with stress, anxiety, relationship issues, family conflicts, & intimacy related issues. I have worked in social work and ministry as well as tradition therapy, and all these have helped me grow and learn how to better serve my clients. It has been my experience that collaborating with clients to help facilitate healing and growth is empowering and transformative for them. I often say, counseling can be a bit like cleaning out a closet. You have to take things out, go through and organize them, and then put them back where they need to go. In a similar fashion, counseling can be messy, but with time and hard work, can lead to healthier, more enjoyable living. Throughout this life, we all have our individual struggles and hardships, but we weren't meant to carry them alone. No matter who you are or what you've been through, there is hope. I have been licensed since 2008 and approved to supervise counselors since 2014 by the state of Missouri; certified by the National Board for Certified Counselors; trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing therapy [EMDR], Emotional Freedom Technique and/or Energy Therapy [EFT] and Dialectical Behavior Therapy [DBT]. I earned Masters of Arts degrees from both Lindenwood University and Covenant Theological Seminary.
