My experience varies in different areas such as depression, anxiety, PTSD, grief/loss, crisis/trauma, family of origin issues, and any other struggles you may have.
I think of life as a cross-country road trip taking us on an adventure. The adventure can be exciting but also scary at times. We make choices on where we wish to go. However, the ride can be smooth or shaky and take us through dark tunnels, across bridges, rivers, and hills. I'm your assistant navigator offering support, encouragement, empowerment, but also challenging you forward towards your chosen destination(s). Together we navigate through any obstacles in order to help you achieve your goals and discover the life you want to live.

My professional experience has focused on working with adults and families dealing with adversity and life transitions and an array of other challenges including anxiety, depression, stress, grief and loss, trauma, family conflict, relationship problems, mood disorders, personality disorders, self-esteem, chronic illness, and women's issues.
I strive to use interventions that meet the specific needs of my clients in a safe, comfortable, and nonjudgmental way. I often use a cognitive-behavioral approach (CBT) in psychotherapy as I help my clients adjust and overcome maladaptive thinking patterns and behaviors. I also utilize dialectical behavioral therapy (DBT) and other therapeutic modalities as a way of teaching clients important coping techniques to manage their stress and navigate their challenges. My goal is to help my clients learning healthy ways of living and a positive mindset to overcome challenges.

I specialize in working with people who are suffering from depression, anxiety, stress, grief, and trauma related issues.
Now accepting new clients for EMDR therapy! Are you tired of avoiding life? Scrolling social media, watching the same movies over and over, sleeping in and staying home all the time is not actually making you feel any better. Do you notice yourself struggling at work, isolating, lashing out at your partner or kids, over eating, and just not enjoying life anymore? Maybe you were taught to sweep all of your problems under the rug and "be grateful." You really do appreciate all the sacrifices that have been made for you, but you still can't shake these negative feelings. You know it is time to try something different. I can help!

I have extensive experience working with anxiety, depression, trauma, abuse, grief, autism, developmental disorders, self-esteem, relationships, ADHD, and defiance.
Hi everyone. My name is Nikki! I have yet to meet a single person, including myself, who can honestly say that they have never lost their way on this crazy journey we call life. You know, I once read, “Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail.” At times, we may become unbalanced. We all have strength within us, beautiful wings that can allow us to fly. I partner with my clients to help them regain their footing and find their way on their life journey - regardless of the difficulties they may be facing.

EMDR is a very powerful therapy that allows individuals to reprocess traumatic events (war, sexual abuse, bullying, grief).
Are you feeling overwhelmed? Are suffering from anxiety, depression or PTSD? Are you ready to make a positive change in your life? What change would you like to see happen in yourself and your life and how would you feel different as a result? Life can sometimes feel overwhelming and counseling can help. We can discover long-standing patterns that may be holding you back from experiencing a more meaningful life. Whether you are looking for extra support and guidance through a difficult situation or you are just ready to move to a new direction in life, I look forward to working with you.

We all encounter periods of disconnection and unhappiness in life. Difficult relationships, unsatisfying careers, and adjusting to life’s transitions can contribute to these feelings. For many, harmful coping mechanisms develop in response to these challenges, exacerbating feelings of despair and loss of control. However, times of suffering can also serve as invitations to let go of limiting beliefs and ineffective coping strategies in order to become the person we aspire to be.

Online Therapists

Is online therapy as effective as in-person?

Numerous studies suggest that online therapy can be as effective as in-person therapy. However, further research is needed to determine if online therapy provides the same benefits across all client populations. Individuals with severe mental illnesses, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, or those who may benefit from in-person check-ins, like those with eating disorders, may not experience the same level of benefit from online therapy. Nonetheless, the success of online therapy, much like in-person therapy, often hinges on the quality of the therapeutic relationship between the therapist and the client rather than the specific modality of therapy used.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of therapy conducted online?

One of the main advantages of online therapy is its convenience for both clients and therapists. It also allows clients who require specialized therapy to access a wider range of professionals than they could with only in-person sessions. Additionally, online therapy may be a more affordable option in some cases and often offers the same insurance benefits as in-person therapy. However, online therapy may not be suitable for everyone, especially those who value face-to-face interaction with a therapist. Therapists may find it more challenging to assess clients accurately in an online setting due to reduced nonverbal cues on camera. There is also the increased risk that disruptions caused by external factors, such as technology malfunctions, can hinder the therapy session. For these reasons, many therapists offer a "hybrid" therapeutic approach, alternating between seeing clients in-person and online.

Is online therapy suitable for children and adolescents?

Just like with adults, the accessibility and convenience of online therapy can greatly benefit children and adolescents. In fact, children and adolescents may be more accustomed to navigating online platforms than older adults, making online sessions feel more natural for them. Teens might also be interested in using additional online tools, such as therapist-recommended apps, as an adjunct to online therapy sessions. Apps for developing CBT skills, practicing mindfulness exercises, or tracking thoughts and moods can be helpful for teens receiving therapy. However, it's important to note that not all therapeutic modalities are well-suited to online therapy, especially those used with younger children. For example, play therapy, which helps younger children express their emotions, often requires in-person sessions to be fully effective.

Can I receive prescriptions and medication management with online therapy?

The ability for psychiatrists to prescribe medications through online therapy varies based on the medication and the states where the medical professional and client are located. While many prescribing regulations were relaxed during the COVID-19 pandemic, some states still enforce rules, especially concerning controlled substances, which may mandate an in-person visit before prescribing. Generally, however, medical professionals can prescribe non-controlled substances through online therapy sessions just as they do during in-person sessions.
