I enjoy helping adults navigate a variety of needs in mental health, including healing from abuse, managing stressors, moving through grief, changing patterns of relating that aren't fulfilling anymore, and finding ways to better communicate and set boundaries. I am passionate about working with individuals in the LGBTQ+ community, and I have a special interest in working with those navigating Bisexuality/Pansexuality/Spaces that are Non-Binary in nature and working with those navigating consensually Non-Monogamous/Polyamorous relationships. I have a 20+ year background in providing counseling and psychotherapeutic services to integrated behavioral health patients of all ages, from the chronically mentally ill, self-esteem problems, relationship problems, spirituality concerns, identity issues, those who suffer from terminal medical illnesses, in addition to those battling severe chemical dependency problems. I also have experience in providing therapy for inmates as well, and I'm currently attending medical courses to develop learning along the the biochemical spectrum of clinical disorders for future psychiatric practice.

My mission: I guide women 45+ stuck repeating the same relationship patterns, leaving them feeling lost and confused, to break free from suffering and learn to feel good and love again in a safe and non-judgmental space. My vision is to create a ripple effect of healing and empowerment, starting with women aged 45+, extending to individuals, couples, families, communities, and ultimately contributing to the healing of the world. Together, we embark on a journey of personal growth and positive change.

I serve the community of Orlando by helping clients going through depression, anxiety, family difficulties, and trauma get to a better mental health. I facilitate this through working within individual sessions (adult and children), family sessions (couples or family), or through group settings. This allows for the client to heal and for the people around the client to grow as well to maintain a healthier outcome.

Finding a good therapist is no easy task, especially online where your options seem as endless as your Netflix suggestions. The search can be daunting and exhausting - particularly when you're trying to just find someone who will understand and respect you. I became a Marriage and Family Therapist because I enjoy processing with individuals and listening to personal journeys to find a resolution. I was a High School performance art major and find this skill set benefical in providing supports through visual cues using various therapeutic approaches and modalities. I specialize in working with children and families in child welfare. I enjoy working with young children and teens as these are challenging developmental years, trauma and distress from systemic and familial patterns of behaviors, coupled with low parenting, coping, decision-making and problem-solving skills.

Hello! My name is Michael Moates, and I have been in the mental health field for 7 years in the subspecialty fields of psychology, behavior analysis, mental health counseling, and substance abuse. I started out at the bottom, working hands-on with patients as a paraprofessional, working my way up to the graduate-level therapist I am today.

I offer safe and accessible telehealth - virtual counseling sessions. Even positive transitions can be challenging, hard to understand, or embarrassing to discuss. School transitions, career changes, divorce, domestic violence, parenting differences, personal loss, dating issues, or other life transitions can sometimes seem overwhelming. Because of these changes, you may feel angry, confused, sad, conflicted, or alone. I am here for you, to help you develop skills to cope with life’s changes.

Are the relationships in your life making you feel exhausted? Are you not feeling like yourself within those relationships or struggling with low self-esteem? This could be caused by relational trauma or unhealthy relational behavior patterns, which could lead to other mental health issues such as anxiety and depression. You may not have had or observed healthy relationships so communication, boundaries, self-love and expressing emotions may be difficult for you. It's never too late to develop these skills and improve your mental health.

Often we have parts of ourselves we feel shameful about, reject, or are just not aware of, and this keeps us from fully accepting, liking, and loving ourselves. My clients work towards integrating these parts to live more fully through a combination of traditional and more alternative therapies. I specialize in self-esteem enhancement, shadow work, ADHD, anxiety, and relationships. I'm experienced in burnout resolution, parenting, complex trauma, codependency, multicultural issues, somatic processing, and substance use and addiction recovery. A variety of these issues tend to be experienced at once and are usually very connected.

As a Clinical Mental Health Therapist and OEF Marine Corps Veteran, I not only understand this struggle but have successfully treated various clients who used to feel that same way.
