Do you feel like you're supposed to keep it all together, but underneath, you're exhausted, disconnected, or on edge? Maybe you're more emotional than you want to be, doing things you don't want to in order to cope or struggling to explain what you're feeling at all. I work with people who are tired of the pressure to "figure it out" alone, and who want real change - not just quick fixes. If you're tired of holding everything in, feeling like you're never enough or feel stuck between who you've been and who you want to be, I'm here to help. Therapy with me is direct, supportive, and focused on helping you reconnect with yourself

I am accepting NEW Clients. My own recovery journey—I am currently 13½ years sober—inspired me to become a counselor. I became a Licensed Independent Addiction Counselor in 2023 and a Licensed Professional Counselor in 2025. I’m currently licensed in Arizona and Idaho, with plans to expand also into Washington State. I am caring, compassionate, and deeply empathetic. I strive to be a “safe space” where you can talk openly about whatever is on your mind—without fear of judgment. My therapeutic approach is eclectic, because I believe there is no one-size-fits-all path to healing.

You're someone that thrives on finding solutions and overcoming career challenges. But, when solutions aren't accessible you find your self stuck, worried, and stressed, quick to anger and emotionally numb. Your usual coping mechanisms that have served you well in business aren't translating to your personal life. You are insightful and maybe you know what could help, but you haven't been able to make lasting change. Imagine a therapy that doesn't just scratch the surface: it's time to quiet that inner critic, connect in your relationships, and resolve the memories and thoughts that are keeping you stuck.

You’re not sure when things changed, but now even the smallest conversations turn into fights. You feel more like roommates than partners, and it’s breaking your heart. Maybe you’re walking on eggshells or replaying old arguments on a loop. Maybe you’re wondering if you’re even compatible anymore. But deep down, you're not ready to give up. You’re ready for more ease. You’re ready to feel heard, respected, and emotionally close again. Most of all, you’re ready to rebuild your relationship into something stronger than before.

My practice focuses on the overall well being of women in all stages of life. Women who aren't sure where to start but know that the current ways are not sustainable. Women who wonder if happiness really exists. Those who have had difficulty getting pregnant or difficulty during pregnancy or postpartum, and the new moms who are sad, angry, or worrying a lot. Parents who are unsure of how to meet their child's needs as well as their own. Neurodivergent women who have been told there is nothing wrong with them and they just need to try harder. Women seeking feedback and a new perspective.

I specialize in helping young children work through emotional and behavioral challenges at home, in school, and in everyday life — and I believe real healing happens when we support both the child and the caregiving system around them. I have formal training in Child Parent Psychotherapy (CPP), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and use components of attachment therapy, play therapy, and sandtray play therapy.

Welcome! Those seeking therapy with me often describe feeling trapped in a cycle of obsessional thoughts and compulsions, bound by anxiety and fear, overthinking, low self-esteem, panic, and suspected or known trauma. These struggles are heavy and imposing, and my clients show up with a strong desire to gain freedom from that which is inhibiting the life they want to lead - they just need the right kind of guidance to get there.

Understanding through listening and then moving toward action create an ideal environment for change. I bring a positive and challenging approach to therapy. One of my strengths is aiding clients in identifying alternative perspectives and ways of behaving. Fundamentally, I believe our fears are often barriers to experiencing the growth and construtive relationships we all desire to have. Once we learn to face what we have been avoiding, alternatives generally present themselves allowing change to occur.

My stomach hurts, I'm exhausted, my whole body aches. Any of this sound familiar? Did you know that unprocessed or "stuffed emotions" can manifest in your body as physical symptoms? Most of us work hard not to feel painful emotions. That sounds logical. Why feel bad? The problem with stuffing emotions is that they don't go anywhere. They remain in your body. This is good and bad news. It's bad news because emotions stuck in our body can cause physical, emotional and mental problems. It's good news because that emotion is still in your body available for you to feel and move through your body when you are ready.

Having done my own counseling I know that it is important to find the right fit. I have been a therapist/counselor since 1992 when I began my training at Purdue University. I specialize in marriage/family therapy, addictions, anger management, and sexual issues. I have 30+ years of experience treating sexual addiction. My overall goal is to "work myself out of a job" by empowering clients to work through core issues, gain needed insights and tools, and make behavioral changes which allow for more success and fulfillment both personally and relationally. I strive to create a safe space and give hope and direction from the start.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Scottsdale?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
