Faith comes by hearing; and Healing comes by being heard. Clients who come to me often struggle with serious mental illness (anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, personality disorder, and psychosis), as well as general mental health issues such family conflict, marital distress, low self-image, spiritual issues and identity confusion. I will help you resolve interpersonal conflicts first and move outward to address family, relational, social, cultural and spiritual functioning. My long-term goal in working with you will be to help you become your best self and walk in your purpose.

Sometimes, we can feel lost in life, or not know which way to move forward toward growth and healing. I believe that each of us can heal, have peace and joy in our own lives. I help others connect to their own inner strengths to reach their full potential. I am passionate about helping others in their personal journeys in a safe, compassionate and non-judgmental environment. I support clients to empower themselves by listening to their own inner voice, and to live in a way that is authentic to themselves. It is an honor to support others in their process of self-discovery, growth and change.

My favorite saying is "practice resurrection", which comes from the end of a Wendell Berry poem. There is a spiritual component to it, but fundamentally it's about being open to the possibility of new life and then choosing to move toward it. So I love to meet with people who have decided that they're ready to address the pain they've been carrying, the questions they've been pushing to the background, or the patterns that are no longer working for them, in order to pursue new life. And I believe the therapeutic process can provide insights and tools to help.

I truly believe healing is not a “one-size-fits-all’ practice. I approach every client with an open heart and mind, acknowledging and honoring one’s truth. I embrace a holistic approach uniquely tailored to fit the needs of each individual client. I focus heavily on understanding my client’s specific perspective on the world and utilize that knowledge to provide the most thorough and compassionate care possible. You are the expert of your own life. It is my goal to provide a safe space for you to turn up the volume on your own intuition, and walk yourself back home.

Making the decision to change an aspect of yourself or your circumstances in the world can be a simultaneously rewarding and challenging process. Many people choose to embark on that journey when they are faced with life stressors, a loss, a desire for self-exploration, or major life transition such as pregnancy, death, or divorce. I'm here to walk that path with you right where you are in that journey. There is hope, and with help and support you can find relief.

Once upon a time, in a land far-far away, a charmingly flawed character overcame life’s challenges to live happily ever after . . . but let’s get real, life isn’t a fairytale. You don’t have ruby slippers or a fairy godmother to wish your troubles away. That’s where I come in. . . I will provide a non-judgmental space for you to talk about your struggles, explore your strengths, and develop the skills you need to handle the stresses of everyday life. No magic wand needed.

I have worked with a wide range of clients over the course of my career. Many of my clients want to overcome their anxiety, obsessions, compulsions, and fears. I enjoy finding creative ways to challenge these problems. Together, we can gain further awareness of the problem, explore it, and work toward solutions. Clients that I like to work with tend to be looking for a more value-driven life. They want to overcome their fears by facing the challenge. When the work is done, they can look back at what they have accomplished like looking down from the peak after a long hike.

How can I find a therapist in Maricopa County?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the United States, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
