I began helping others in 1990 as a Peer Counselor (Drug Exemption NCO) while on active duty in the Marine Corps. After earning degrees in Psychology and Social Work at UNCW/ECU, I obtained licensure to practice independently with the Virginia Board of Health Professionals in 2004. I am originally from the Hampton Roads area but have worked internationally with people from many different backgrounds. I have continued to support the military, as well as the community at large, for over 3 decades with evidence-based treatments for trauma (PTSD).

Our trauma can leave us with feelings of shame, resentment, and guilt. When we don't take the time for our own recovery and healing, we can find ourselves becoming stressed and overwhelmed. We become unrecognizable to ourselves and disconnected from our own needs. Our physical health is impacted. We experience spiraling thoughts and an inability to relax. Our anger and sadness are easily triggered. We sabotage our important relationships. We lack trust and fear intimacy. We find ourselves feeling undeserving of the goodness life has to offer.

As we voyage through life, it is inevitable that we will face the unexpected. Often times, this means taking on challenges beyond our familiarity and traversing obstacles we can conquer with guidance. My experience and proficiency has allowed me to guide individuals toward their overall recovery and wellness in a variety of areas. My expertise involves working with adults who live with chemical addiction (drugs and alcohol), process addiction (gambling, sex, video games etc.), anxiety, depression, parenting/family issues, Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), and major life transitions.
