I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Virginia currently providing video psychotherapy sessions. My patients are older teens and adults who are dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, grief, relationship and family issues, poor self image and academic and professional stressors. I earned my Master's Degree in Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University, where I focused on the impact substance abuse and mental health challenges have on the individual across the life span.
I approach psychotherapy holistically, integrating models such as Family Systems Theory and Trauma Theory. My theoretical preferences are CBT, solution focused treatment and interpersonal therapy. I focus on strengths based and solution focused interventions that allow me to work collaboratively with clients. I use hypnosis to address concerning behaviors.
I envision therapy as a partnership based on mutual respect and honesty. Therapeutic goals are based on the individual's goals. My therapeutic approach is one that encompasses authenticity, compassion and trust. I believe that each of these values are vital to building a strong therapeutic relationship so that we can create a safe, non-judgmental space.
