Selecting a therapist is an important decision. Creating a therapeutic rapport with a perfect stranger and discussing very personal issues can be intimidating. I'd like to help make this process more comfortable. I have been working with individuals, couples, and families for 28 years. My integrative approach helps you utilize your skills and strengths to identify and solve current problems. It also affords you the opportunity to resolve long standing issues by learning new skills, tapping into your own inner resources and recognizing the body, mind and spirit connection.

I believe that we all hold the answers to life’s questions deep within ourselves. That buried beneath the layers of self-doubt, fear, shame, there is an inner wisdom that can guide us not only towards healing, but towards an embodied life aligned with our values. As a therapist, I see my role as a collaborative guide on your journey towards reconnecting with this "felt sense" or intuition. Healing takes place when we are seen, validated, and accepted for all that we are, and I am passionate about providing a non-judgemental, safe space that celebrates the fullness of your humanity.

I am a bilingual (English and Spanish) and bicultural professional who has worked with abused children, adolescents, adults and their families who have experienced trauma. I have also worked with individuals with other mental health disorders (e.g., anxiety disorders, mood disorders, psychotic disorders, eating disorders, impulse control, addiction disorders, personality disorders, obsessive-compulsive disorder, etc.).

I currently serve clients from ages 10-100, with my primary focus being adolescents and adults. I am a mental health counselor as well as a licensed clinical addiction specialist, meaning I love working with both mental health disorders and addictions. When working with mental health, I serve those struggling with anxiety/depression, trauma/sexual abuse, bipolar I or II disorder, dissociative-identity disorder, grief, self-esteem concerns, identity matters, religious or spiritual factors, stress management, and those on the autism spectrum. My goals for my clients are to be able to increase their sense of self-worth and autonomy.

As an expressive arts therapist, I promote the healing power of the arts and am dedicated to helping my clients discover their strengths and healing potential. I love being able to walk with people on their healing journies, guiding them through transitions and periods of growth. I have worked with a variety of people including children with physical illness, at-risk adolescents, adults with mental illness, seniors both with and without dementia, refugees and immigrants and as a supervisor for art therapists seeking art therapy registration. I have worked in schools, hospitals, retirement centers and mental health agencies.

Life can be very difficult at times, and I want to help. I have had the opportunity to train in a variety of therapeutic modalities, making me uniquely qualified to utilize the interventions that are most appropriate for each of my clients. In order to determine the most appropriate form of treatment, I collaborate with each of my clients to determine the issues they would like to address and the goals they would like to achieve. We are then in a better position to determine the most efficacious treatment modality.

Liz believes in providing a safe and nonjudgmental space for you to get the support you deserve to live a better life. Liz completed her Bachelor of Science from Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio and received her Master of Science School Counseling and Community Counseling from Ohio University. She received her licensure as a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor (LCMHC) in North Carolina in 2013 and has 20 years' experience working in a variety of helping roles supporting seniors, adults, children, families and couples. Liz has over ten years of experience working with children ages 5-11 as a school counselor.

I don’t believe in a one size fits all approach. Purpose and meaning, and how we get there, is different for everyone. I enjoy working with women ages 30-65. During this tumultuous time women are coming into their power and may be experiencing relational issue challenges, sleep disruptions, and symptoms of perio-menopause/menopause. I am an eclectic therapist, using best practice, evidence-based interventions (CBT, DBT, solution-focused therapy), spiritual connection, and experiential art therapy. The underpinning of my approach is authentic person centered, existential and conversational talk therapy.
