As an expressive arts therapist, I promote the healing power of the arts and am dedicated to helping my clients discover their strengths and healing potential. I love being able to walk with people on their healing journies, guiding them through transitions and periods of growth. I have worked with a variety of people including children with physical illness, at-risk adolescents, adults with mental illness, seniors both with and without dementia, refugees and immigrants and as a supervisor for art therapists seeking art therapy registration. I have worked in schools, hospitals, retirement centers and mental health agencies.
While my approach is eclectic and varies based on the client I am working with, I am largely person-centered, helping each client to find their own path and setting goals appropriate for their journey. I find that the arts help to facilitate moments of insight in a way that is often more powerful than traditional talk therapy.
Many people have shared with me that they are not sure art therapy would be a good fit for them because they are "not creative." I believe all people are creative and that sometimes they just need a safe place to explore. I welcome any questions you may have about expressive arts therapy.
