Calling All Women, especially Single Women. You know, sometimes life will throw you a curve, making it difficult to get back on track. I have been counseling for over (20) years. My primary focus has been with concerns on anxiety, depression, grief and self-esteem. Clients' counseling issues include personal, emotional, professional, and relationship problems. When appropriate, I will use Christian Counseling. I will use play therapy, and expressive art therapy techniques with clients. I want you to be healed, mind, body and soul.

Children and families have been the focal point of my career for over 20 years. I have learned that youth and adults benefit from listening, understanding, and validation. Nowadays, the impact of unresolved mental health issues is a clear and present growing risk factor. Please do not hesitate to speak with someone about difficult matters. Having good mental health can reduce risk factors and should be a prioritized need alongside our physical health. For mental health crises, you can call Mobile Crisis at 877-626-1772; or National Suicide Prevention Hotline 800-273-8255 (dial 988). For life threatening emergencies, please call 911.

I have a heart for serving adults, adolescents, couples and families dealing with significant life issues such as the death of a loved one, chronic illness or pain, issues stemming from past trauma, parenting children with special needs, or managing chronic mental health conditions such as ADHD, anxiety and depression. I believe that it is helpful when a therapist has a personal understanding of the areas in which they specialize. I have personal experience with all of these circumstances, allowing me a level of empathy and insight that may not be possible otherwise.

You want to feel at ease in your relationships, but deep down you struggle with communicating emotions, perfectionism, and burnout. As a couple, you want to deeply understand one another, break out of unhelpful patterns, and feel the energy you once had. You might not even remember a time things didn’t feel this way. One thing is for sure: you’re ready to live with vitality. You’re ready to enjoy meaningful relationships without feeling the need to over-achieve. You’re ready to take the courageous step towards vulnerability. Most of all, you’re ready to go from complacent to passionate.

Here's a hard dose of truth...you may not have caused all of your problems, but you still have to solve them. To that end, we often struggle internally with what we should change vs. what we should accept. That's where we come in! The answers are not always clear but they are attainable. It's time for you to prioritize YOU in a nonjudgmental, validating environment. Lastly, if you don't have the words to explain what's going on, we can help with that too.

Therapy is hard work and I believe a partnership is required for positive outcomes to be achieved. You see, as engaged and motivated as I may be to help you succeed, your buy-in is absolutely necessary in order for change to occur. I'm looking for clients who are seeking a different tomorrow and are ready to take steps to make it happen. This means being an active participant in therapy, being willing to face challenging conversations, making changes that may not feel so great in the moment, and doing work outside the session to make changes stick.

Challenges come in all different walks of life, shapes, and sizes. It's the universal one thing everyone must deal with. As a therapist, I try to help my clients develop the skills to be able to deal with whatever challenges they may face with courage, dignity, and the strength to know that eventually they will overcome these challenges. For many these challenges include debilitating depression, intense anxiety, fractured communication skills, trauma, substance abuse, or any combination of those. Although admitting the need and asking for help may be hard, the skills developed in therapy can definitely be worth it.

How can I find a therapist in Raleigh?
Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
What type of therapist is right for me?
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.
Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.
What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
