My name is Ziyad Elassal. As someone who has personally experienced the challenges and consequences of addiction, I understand the turmoil you may be going through. In fact, I almost lost my life in my own battle with addiction. But with the help of an amazing counselor, I was able to break free from the chains of addiction and embark on a journey of recovery. Having walked the path of recovery myself, I am deeply committed to helping others find hope and healing. I became a counselor because I wanted to inspire others through my own recovery story, showing them that a better life, free from the grips of addiction, is possible.

I specialize in transforming relationships, working as an Emotionally Focused Therapist with a focus on couples and individuals. I believe that by enhancing a couple's dynamic, we not only assist them but positively impact future generations. Many individuals' most significant challenges stem from relational issues. As relationships improve, individual struggles often become more manageable.

Often our pain and the ways we cope with our pain stand in the way of the relationships we desire most. Whether you are struggling with depression, anxiety, conflict within your relationship, or are having difficulty managing daily life due to the challenges you are experiencing, I’m here to walk beside you on your journey. I love working with children and families. I want to have clear communication with guardians while also creating a safe space that allows children to express themselves with a degree of age-appropriate privacy. I work with children to identify their emotions, learn their emotional triggers, and build a toolkit of coping skills. I also work with you as guardian to build plans of action at home and provide psychoeducation that is research backed so that you feel informed and confident in your parenting. I also recognize that as your family grows and changes you may find it helpful to reach out for support for yourself.

I want to help you to break out of any negative patterns that interfere with your life. These patterns can be as simple as procrastinating at school, work or at home. They could be more serious, such as anxiety, problematic relationships or addictions. The focus of our work can be any pattern which makes it difficult for you to meet your responsibilities, which are painful or which cause you to miss the joy in life. I believe that you possess the innate qualities necessary to ease your suffering and to heal.

Your needs will always be my top priority and I will be in your corner, putting you first at all times. Counseling helped me during a time when I was very vulnerable and lost. That's when I knew, that being a counselor was exactly what I wanted to do. I want to be there to support people. Being a therapist is not my job, it's my calling.

Strength is recognizing that you can't do it alone. My main goal as a therapist is to provide a safe, open, and nonjudgmental space that focuses on each individual's life experiences while maintaining the personal beliefs/values of the client to encourage growth and strength. I value the connections my clients create with me as their therapist; creating a connection with your therapist is important to the therapeutic process and will be the driving force of each therapy session. I work with clients collaboratively to explore their thoughts, feelings, hopes, and obstacles to create goals reflecting their desires for therapy.

We are accepting NEW clients- BCCS is a community-based Outpatient Mental Health Clinic that provides a person-centered approach to children, adolescents, and adults. Our approach is to provide a supportive, safe, and interculturally competent environment, tailored to your individual needs. Most of our clinicians are bilingual licensed mental health professionals, who are passionate about closing the mental health gap created by language, cultural or religious barriers.

Peace. I know how important it is to create a safe space for you to talk about your struggles. Whether the discussion is about your sexuality, especially if you are part of the LGBTQ+ community, your mood, your past including traumatic experiences and upcoming life transitions, therapy and the process of collaborative learning about you is my goal. My work experiences in hospital settings, college counseling settings, community mental health and private practice in both Saudi Arabia and the U.S. have taught me to integrate what I have learned about education, advocacy, and treatment into my therapeutic approach.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with more than 20 years experience. I received my undergraduate and graduate degrees from University of Michigan and Oakland University, respectively. I furthered my formal education with a post-Master's specialization in mental health. In my work as a psychotherapist, I encounter many people of various nationalities and socioeconomic standing. As I help them with their concerns, I repeatedly find the single most important conduit to change is the relationship we forge in therapy. In this relationship I am without judgment. I am respectful, understanding, and completely accepting.

As a therapist I hope to create a safe and nurturing environment that will facilitate healing and growth. My areas of specialty include interpersonal therapy, adolescence, depression and anxiety, parenting, grief counseling, crisis intervention, and time management skills.

With personal experience as an immigrant, I understand the unique challenges involved. My approach is rooted in empathy and cultural competence, creating a safe space for individuals to navigate their mental health journey.
