I describe my compassionate approach on my website: https://startmywellness.com/
Welcome! I have been a therapist (LPC) since 2011, and have worked in the mental health field since 2004. I have a passion for helping teens, young adults, and adults reach their mental health goals, and am sensitive to their needs.
Are you finding it difficult to engage in activities that once brought joy and meaning to your life due to sadness, feelings of loss, or overwhelming worry? I help people reengage in valued activities and relationships, heal from trauma, and rediscover what is most important in their lives. My approach to therapy is relational and integrative. I employ behavioral health interventions, viewing these elements as tools that are best utilized in a broader person-centered context of physiological health and psychological wholeness.
I journey with clients as a collaborator, allowing both my experience and intuition to support a mutual exchange of ideas, finding solutions and strategies that are right for you. Clients rely on me to help them define their priorities in therapy, access their own intuition, better understand their emotional lives, and to provide a direct and honest appraisal of the patterns that emerge in their work and relationships. Together we are therapeutic partners navigating forward to find more rewarding and effective ways to be at ease within yourself, resolve conflicts, and live in relationship with others.
I am very excited to work with you! I have many years of experience working with children and families assisting them to build a life worth living for them and facing challenges in life with strategies and techniques that work for them. I really enjoy working with adolescents, college students and adults. I am specifically trained in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) but also have years of training in Strength Based Therapy, working with depressed and anxious individuals and individuals with a trauma history. I am also an adult adoptee and enjoy working with anyone involved in the adoption triad.

I've been in practice 25 yrs - with individuals/couples & families -- kids 6+, many teens, college students & adults. I'm shamelessly informal -- no ties or pressed shirts here!. The office is quite unique - - very large, ultra comfy, w/MANY natural oddities... slightly chaotic -- like life! Good strong coffee/tea/soda & munchies always available. Pets welcome. I'm adopted myself, a licensed foster parent, & work with trauma and attachment. I have a multi-cultural family & lived abroad (Africa). I do co-parenting therapy & am also very familiar w/court systems, working with Dr.'s, lawyers, schools and custody issues.
My role as a therapist is to give you a safe and peaceful space in which you can find hope and make the changes you desire for yourself. I have 20 years of experience working with a diverse population children, teens, young adults, couples and families. In addition to traditional talk therapy, I also utilize art therapy components, overall wellness integration and mindfulness techniques. Hello and thank you for visiting my page! I am a Limited Licensed Psychologist and have a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology from Cleveland State University. I completed my practicum with Neurology and Neuroscience Associates, Inc. in Akron, Ohio with a special focus on neuropsychological assessment and diagnostics. I have since worked in both inpatient and outpatient settings as well as correctional facilities. I am specialized in Autism Spectrum Disorder diagnostics and developmental disorders as well as other various psychological testing including ADHD and intellectual assessments.
I believe that therapy should be individualized for everyone. Therapy is not one size fits all, and because of that I draw from an eclectic approach. I focus on empowering clients to take control of their lives and the way they think in connection with their actions. I am skilled and trained in Trauma-Focused CBT, CBT (in general) and DBT. I am willing to also explore other techniques and methods that would better suit my client if they find that these methods do not fit them.
If you're anything like most clients, you have found that life can throw you a few unexpected curveballs. Sometimes work becomes overwhelming, school is stressful, and life can just be too much to handle. The good news is that this is normal and you are in good company! My clients are everyday people who discover that life is rough. Maybe you'll discover that you would appreciate someone in the passenger seat helping you navigate the complexities of life. You likely have hopes and dreams and might benefit from someone lending a helping hand in order to achieve all that you hope to in life.
Positive change unfolds through a genuine therapeutic relationship attentive to the mind, body and spirit of each person. In working with individuals and families I find it helpful to focus on the strength, resilience and hope of life's journey, empowering each person's innate ability to understand, explore and accept change.
You have been sitting with your thoughts and seem to recycle your memories. You are excellent at suppressing your hurt and stay busy with work and life as a distraction. You no longer connect with others the way you used to and keep friends and family at a distance. The Pandemic may have increased your anxiety and depression and you are uncertain where to begin. Your worry and fear come out as; anger, sadness and controlling behaviors, due to questioning your worth and self esteem. Will I ever feel truly happy? Will I feel truly loved? Will I find my life path and the career that makes my soul soar? Will I learn to forgive?

If you're searching for a therapist who will encourage you to stay in counseling for years while holding your hand singing camp songs, I suggest you keep looking. But if you prefer a trained clinician whose approach to counseling is goal-oriented and solution-focused, give me a call. You can trust that I will be sensitive and empathetic, but since you are hiring me to do a job, I will be directive in identifying the best approach to solve your problems. I'm qualified to treat a wide variety of issues (see the list below), but the majority of my clinical practice focuses on Relational/Marriage issues as well as Anxiety/Depression.
Providing a safe, non-judgmental therapeutic environment allows my clients to begin exploring the life challenges they are facing. Life can be hard and often very lonely. Sometimes it feels overwhelming. With compassion and respect, I listen carefully and without judgement. I use an interactive approach by involving my clients in problem solving and finding solutions that best fit their needs. It takes courage to reach out for help. Although change is difficult, I invite you to allow me to provide guidance, support and encouragement as you explore these changes in order to achieve a more satisfying and peaceful life.
