Telehealth for mental health counseling is here! I've been using it for awhile now, before COVID. It's easy-really. Just like face to face therapy in the office, telehealth is accessible, professional and easy for everyone. The professional connections are HIPPA compliant and safe. Pick a spot and connect. Stay comfortable. Forget the traffic. Ignore the weather. Give yourself the time and attention you need to heal. You deserve to be heard, I'm listening. Therapy makes healing happen. Help is here, don't stay stuck. You're worth it! Give it a try...you'll be glad you did.
We are all masters of our own lives; we each hold the answers to questions and problems we may endure. Sometimes, we lose insight and need guidance to uncover our underlying knowledge or simply to cope with setbacks. My goal is to empower, educate and assist people to regain control of their lives. Seeking assistance can be difficult and takes courage; I provide a safe environment, compassionate, holistic nature and welcome people of all ages. I pride my practice on integrating what are considered non-traditional methods of treatment to supplement our therapy together.
My ideal client is looking to make changes in their life, either to improve functioning, improve personal relationships, or would like to find a greater sense of personal life satisfaction, meaningfulness, and inner contentment. My ideal client may have recently experienced a crisis or increase in stressors or has a long history of experiencing interpersonal struggles and unhappiness and is looking for a therapist that provides an empathic approach and offers a safe nonjudgemental environment to explore thoughts and feelings. My client is interested in learning effective coping skills, how to challenge distorted thinking, and ways to improve self-esteem.
Life can seem very overwhelming. At times it may feel like we can barely keep our heads above water. Other moments leave us feeling stuck and unable to imagine a way forward. Reaching out for help is the best thing you can do for your mental health. While we cannot change the past, we can work together to make the changes needed to feel better.
You are your own expert. I am here to reassure, assist and guide you in overcoming the challenges you are facing. I have a passion for working with children and families by addressing problematic behaviors at home and/or school. I believe in linking the mental and the physical through mindfulness, physical exercise, exposure to nature, and positive psychology. Change can be unsettling and I'd like to aid you in accepting and moving through those unsettling times. Together we can work on building and nurturing healthy long-term relationships with yourself and others. Additionally, I am an ally to LGBTQI individuals and families.
Stress comes in many forms and can negatively impact us throughout life. Now more than ever, it is essential for us to take care of ourselves emotionally and mentally. Many children and teens are facing the pressure of increased academic and social demands. Many adults are struggling to cope with difficulties surrounding family, relationships, parenting, finances, major life changes, grief/loss, and trauma. I can help you work through life’s many challenges so that you can feel healthier, happier, and more confident from the inside out.
I began my practice in 1984 as a Social Worker. I returned to school and earned a Ph.D in Psychology. I specialize in working with adults of all ages, children, adolescence, couples and families. I employ a variety of techniques such as mindfulness, insight oriented inquiry, Yoga and traditional talk therapies. I do believe that we can change our lives if we change our thinking. At times we come to a place when our thoughts become unbearable and feel overwhelmed and confused. When we are open to acknowledging our suffering we then become willing to explore our pain.
Opening up and allowing yourself to be completely vulnerable is an emotional task. I can work with you to help alleviate the stressors that come from enduring difficult situations. If your struggles are getting the best of you and you are unsure of how to proceed, I will meet you where you are, mentally, and we can work together to create and achieve goals that are best suited for you.
Sad? Anxious? Stressed? Having problems with your relationship or parenting? Feeling disappointed with your life? Let me help. Together we can: * Develop the skills and abilities you need to cope with distressing events and feelings. * Identify your needs and find ways to meet these. * Deal with past and current events. * Resolve anything else that might be holding you back from living the life you want. Together we will explore your thoughts and feelings. We will identify action steps that are right for you, and focus your efforts on things that will make the most impact now.
Facing obstacles in life is inevitable, but who says we have to face them alone? I aim to create a space where you are able to share your story and talk through different ways to help alleviate your issues, stress, triggers, fears, and insecurities, and work through them collaboratively. I feel that it is important for both the patient and the therapist to build a healthy therapeutic relationship. I practice with a strengths-based approach, to highlight your strengths as a means for healing. I utilize psychodynamic, CBT, mindfulness, and trauma informed modalities.

I meet each person where they are at and work collaboratively to address individual needs/goals. I will provide you with a safe, comfortable and judgment-free space to explore your inner thoughts, feelings, hopes and dreams. I recognize that you are the expert of you. My goal is to guide you towards further self-discovery by helping identify your triggers, develop positive coping skills, overcome life’s challenges and work towards living your fullest life.
Since feelings are first, how are you coping in your current situation, relationship, family, work or culture? Has life or stress "got you down"? Are you Still waiting for some change or Better days? I work with clients ranging from young children to older adults on issues such as anxiety, family issues, behavioral issues, mood disorders, relationships issues, and trauma. I believe therapy provides a "safe place" to let ones guard down without ever having to feel judged especially in today's world. Positive growth and change is always possible when we are appreciated and empowered. I like to keep the office environment very casual, open, and inviting so you feel free to open up and truly be seen as the individual and human that you are!
