My clinical work encompasses attachment, psychodynamic, family systems, cognitive behavioral, gender-affirming, alternative relationships, trauma-focused, and mindfulness-based modalities.
Life is a journey. Sometimes you can travel alone, but there are times in everyone’s life when they could use someone to walk with them and help them reach their goals. I believe everyone is doing the best they can at all times, sometimes that means checking off all of the things on the to-do list, and other times, that means stumbling out of bed. I enjoy assisting people in living their most authentic life; to help figure out what went so right that they were able to check off all those items, or to help identify the barriers to getting out of bed and getting on that journey.

Trauma leaves you feeling broken, damaged, and disconnected from yourself and your loved ones. Deep down you are struggling to manage your intense emotions. You tear yourself apart when you mess up. You may feel shameful and guilty with no space left for joy. You know when you try to relax all the thoughts and memories come rushing in. Some nights it might feel like there’s a DVD playing your most painful memories and it feels unsafe. You want to hide and can’t trust anyone. You judge yourself. You see the world around you is handling things much better than you. You ask yourself “Why can't I be normal, why can’t I get over it".

Ideally, I'd treat clients with a trauma history. Someone with a mixture of short and long term trauma. My ideal client is eager to learn and wants to find a way to become their own safe space. Someone who wants to learn how to set and maintain healthy boundaries, find out their triggers, and treat themselves with patience.

My passion is helping survivors of loss, trauma, and instability manage their pain when their old survival skills stop working.
You’ve had to figure out so much on your own – how to deal with feelings, how to box up your pain and keep going, how to protect yourself. You’ve been carrying your hurt around for YEARS. But now, you’ve hit a wall. Your pain box is bursting open and the “just push through” attitude isn’t working. You may be wondering WHY NOW, since you have already been through so much. You may have found other approaches to alleviate the suffering, but the absence of misery is not the same as thriving. It’s time to stop hiding and address the roots.

We all know the story of the straw that broke the camels back. Was it really the straw? Or was it that no one bothered to unload the camel of all of it's other burdens? Far to often in life we carry around our stress, trauma, fears, pain, and a host of other unhealthy baggage. Therapy can be a great tool for allowing us to unload, and work through the things we've been holding on to. I am a certified clinical trauma professional (CCTP) specializing in depression, mindfulness skills, & trauma processing. I am here to help you unpack, work through those experiences, and develop skills to manage whatever life may throw your way.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
