While a person can feel better after a good talk with a friend or relative, for moderate or severe distress, this relief is only temporary. At those times, it is beneficial to talk with a trained counselor who listens and interacts in a way to get to the very root for your emotional concerns. I offer my clients an opportunity to face their difficulties confidently and constructively; freeing them to enjoy all the good things life has to offer.

I'm an individual therapist providing neurodiversity-affirming Autism & ADHD evaluations for adults in the state of Maryland. Some folks may come to me through self-identification and are looking to affirm what they already know about themselves, while others may be exploring neurodivergence for the first time. I'm ready to meet you wherever you are in your self-discovery journey. My process is based on your needs but a typical evaluation includes gathering of social and developmental history, completion of self-report questionnaires, and the use of several diagnostic tools.

You’re Not Broken—You’re Just drained and overwhelmed. You’ve tried everything you know to get through, but it's not enough. Your mind is in overdrive, your body is exhausted. Spiraling down dark rabbit holes and feeling out of control leaves you out of hope too.
Life can't be lived in high stress and uncertainty 24/7. You shouldn’t have to spend every ounce of energy just to hold it together. Don't let life feel THAT heavy. When your cup is overflowing with stress & there’s nothing left for you, it’s not a sign of failure. It’s a sign you’ve been carrying too much, too long, with not the right support.

Sometimes life just feels heavier than usual and you don’t know why. It’s an itch you can’t scratch. A feeling you can’t name. You are curious what’s behind these uneasy feelings and what you can do to feel like yourself again. Many of my client's appear "high functioning" on the outside, yet internally they feel anxious, disconnected, or weighed down by the past experience and current stressors. I support women in every season of life as they seek deeper self-understanding, self-acceptance, and meaningful change. If you’re feeling ready for a shift but unsure where to begin, starting with yourself is a powerful first step.

First of all, I love what I do, and it's a pleasure to witness the positive changes clients make in their lives as a result of choosing therapy to help them achieve. Often the goal is to achieve symptom relief so as not to be overwhelmed by anxiety, mood disorders, or be better able to manage the challenges of ADHD.
Sometimes there is not a specific outcome identified but a need for ongoing support for dealing with life transitions or difficult people. Sometimes, clients use therapy as a confidential sounding board, where they can discuss situations with an objective outsider and clarify their perspective.

There are times when we outgrow our current coping skills and need to refocus our energy and will. Balancing our ways we survive is key by using different strategies and techniques that are carved out for each one of us. Being an art therapist and a clinical social worker, I believe that in my work with children, adolescents, and adults a way exists in finding the best self that is somewhere within themselves. Using cognitive behavioral therapy with a client-centered focus, I can join with and provide an outlet for clients to share experiences and work together to foster an improved sense of self and well-being.

I work best with clients who are ready and motivated to engage in their therapeutic journey. This means being open to exploring new perspectives, actively participating in sessions, and applying what we discuss to their daily lives

I believe in a holistic approach to psychotherapy. Psychotherapy creates a safe space for wounded people to work toward healing within the security of the therapeutic relationship. I understand your problems through both clinical and spiritual perspectives. I believe that true healing and freedom come through faith in Christ Jesus so I am guided by the Holy Spirit within my clinical approach. I believe in the Biblical truth of John 8:36, "Whom the Son sets free is truly free indeed". My therapeutic practice reflects that freedom and healing are possible for all clients who are bound by psychological pain and trauma.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?
The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.
Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?
Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.
Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?
The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.
How much does therapy cost?
The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.
What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?
Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.
Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?
Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
Is online therapy a good option?
Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.
Are therapy sessions confidential?
Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
