Grief, trauma, insecurities, anxiety and depression do not discriminate. You are not alone. If you find it difficult to move beyond it and you feel stuck, this is normal. Our body keeps score and remembers. This is why I integrate techniques that connect the mind and body. It is important to release stored up tension and stress, as well as addressing our core beliefs about our experiences. While creating coping mechanisms is important I will also help you discover root causes and address obstacles in a holistic manner.

I have worked with individuals with SUD, those who have experienced complex trauma, pregnant/parenting women, and those experiencing depression and anxiety.
Therapy offers the space to process emotions and experiences, develop a relationship with yourself, and gain insight. It is my goal to create a space for you to explore these areas, and to develop a therapeutic alliance that instills hope and encourages confidence. I utilize a psychodynamic approach rooted in attachment theory, and incorporate components of internal family systems, emotionally focused therapy, schema therapy and dialectical behavioral therapy. I take a person-centered, direct and compassionate approach, to create a space to reconstruct your view of yourself, others, and the world.

I use an integrative approach to counseling and psychotherapy to help meet the individual needs of each client. I understand that a strong therapeutic relationship, including a foundation of trust, is essential to the therapeutic process. Learning about my client and understanding the presenting issue(s), we work collaboratively to identify goals for therapy. A Treatment Plan, tailored to each client, involves a combination of cognitive, affective, behavioral, and somatic techniques. I draw from a variety of methodologies and techniques to incorporate what is most helpful in resolving current and long-standing issues.

Will I ever be good enough?....Maybe I AM the crazy one?... Have you had these thoughts? Are you anxious, depressed, a chronic people pleaser? Have your "loved ones" blamed you for "everything that is wrong"? Do you hate the way they act around you, but then a few memories of when they were nice make you feel guilty for having those thoughts (cognitive dissonance)? This is all normal if you have experienced narcissistic abuse or emotionally immature parents. This is where I come in. Healing is a real possibility. You deserve it and I'm dedicated to helping you move from surviving to thriving!

What is my purpose? How do I stay strong? How to heal? How to be resilient? How to make a comeback? These were among Google’s most frequently searched questions in 2021. That same year the world searched for affirmations more than ever with phrases like “I am worthy, I am loved”. I cite Google’s metric to validate that you are NOT alone. Millions of us are on a quest for self-actualization, clarity around our roles, healing in our relationships, and empowerment in our decisions. With a lot of experience, education, compassion, and curiosity, I am able to provide superior care individualized to your treatment needs.

Yes, I am accepting clients! Are you feeling alone or inadequate on this planet of 8 billion humans? Craving love but there's never enough? Are you longing for connection but feeling exhausted by it at the same time? Comparing yourself to the beautiful and "successful" people at work or in the media and falling short? Tired of not being enough? Ugh! I hear you and I get it. Your brain (and mine at times) is a bully tearing you down. It tells you to withdraw from people and stay safe with your pet or porn. But the answer isn't withdrawing or escaping. It all comes back to the relationships you have with yourself and others.

You feel successful, yet something is missing. You may feel trapped in a cycle of constant conflict, self-doubt, and unrelenting stress, longing for calm confidence that always seems out of reach. You’re exhausted and frustrated because you’ve tried everything, but it doesn’t work. If you're here for your child or teen, you're concerned that they struggle with issues they can’t always articulate. They seem stuck, and you feel powerless to help them. You both need change, but it’s hard to know where to start. Now is the time to act.

If you are the person, everyone turns to, who do YOU turn to? You give everything to everyone else but never have time for you. It gets tiring always being the ''strong'' one. I see you. You might be struggling to get through the day or question yourself and your worth. This can look like anxiety, depression, problems recovering from a traumatic experience as an adult or as a child.

Female Therapists

Does it matter what gender my therapist is?

In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.

Should I see a female therapist?

Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.

Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?

Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?

It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
