Sometimes we feel like we are broken into a million pieces. Looking at the pieces feels overwhelming and exhausting. It feels like we cannot do this on our own but we don't want to be a burden on others. Having someone help put the pieces back together can help us feel more whole. Taking a step towards healing is a starting with a helping hand. I am a Licensed Therapist with 4+ years of experience and I am formally trained in EMDR. I like to look at the root cause of our distress and what made us who we are. I do take sooner care, but for ages 20 and below.

As a depth counselor, I assist clients who need deep healing from trauma, anxiety, depression, and other wounds to find wholeness in Self and relationships again. It takes a lot of courage to shine a light into the darkest places within, and to uncover and work with the roots of our pain. I truly believe even the most difficult symptoms hold gifts for us, and its my life's work to provide the space for my clients to face the scariest parts of being human, find those gifts, and turn the uncovered material into the stuff they need to move from surviving to actually thriving.

What if I told you that you could do talk therapy for years BUT if you don't address your MIND and BODY - not much will change? When we experience trauma, so does our body! In fact, our body is re-living the trauma long after the event is over. Our current physical, mental and emotional state are all clues, to what our body needs to process, to fully heal. Since our body remembers, it's important our body has a chance to process and feel safe again. Safety and comfort are the main principles to heal from all past trauma. Feeling safe again allows your mind and body to fully embrace healing.

TEENAGERS ARE CRAZY! Well at least it seems like it for a few years. Raising a teenager can be a roller coaster ride, exciting and a little scary. Typically teens experience an enormous amount physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual growth during these years. Providing teens with the opportunity to take part in their own counseling allows them to further develop skills which promote independence. The Prevention Center, LLC will help your child improve their overall functioning at home, school, within the family, and with peers/social environment. We provide adolescent counseling to children ages 12- 18.

Sometimes life brings us experiences that are less than ideal. Afterwards, we can be left feeling lost, sad, lonely, afraid - it may feel overwhelming, like nothing will ever be okay again. Other times, things may be going just fine, but you find yourself wanting more, wanting to know yourself on a deeper level and find wholeness in a way you have not been able to before. As a depth-oriented counselor, I have passion for clients in both groups. People who crave healing from any of life’s wounds and people who crave more depth and meaning in their lives.

Everyone's experience is unique and unfortunately can involve moments of pain, trauma and feelings of shame. Counseling can provide a safe place, free of judgement to work through anxiety, depression, low self esteem, codependency and relationship issues that are often a result of trauma. I offer a kind and accepting environment to explore struggles and assist clients in moving toward a place of healing.

Trying to recover from addiction or mental illness on your own is tremendously difficult. This is true for not only the one with the disorder, but for each family member who may feel desperate for change. You probably feel like you have exhausted yourself trying to recover or to help someone recover, but no positive change seems to last. Although reaching out for help is hard, the willingness to engage in counseling with an experienced therapist can give you the push you need and provide you with tools you would not have access to if you continue try to use the same ineffective strategies to solve the problems on your own.

My practice focuses on helping individuals and families who face life stressors associated with issues related to aging and caregiving. As an individual moves through life stages, they may experience a need for support, guidance, and normalization of emotional responses, which may range from depression, anxiety, and feelings of being overwhelmed. If you are a caregiver or have found yourself in a caregiving situation and are experiencing stress, guilt or confusion on how to access resources, I am here to help. I utilize a holistic, client centered approach to help individuals and families.

Are you hurting? Do you struggle daily with your addiction? Do you think you may be drinking too much, or has someone else been upset by your drinking, or other behavior? Are you lost about what to do about a loved one's addiction? I can help you understand your behaviors, and why you may be continuing to make the same decisions over and over again, expecting different results, and nothing ever changes. And, if nothing changes, nothing changes. I specialize in helping clients identify their destructive beliefs that are no longer useful to them, and how to replace them with more useful beliefs. I teach tapping to empower clients.

Families can be an important part of long-term recovery and I try to involve the family whenever possible. For appropriate clients, I offer a 6-month outpatient program.

Life is an ongoing journey towards wholeness. Along that road, we experience expected and unexpected changes that can cause us to question who we are and exactly where we’re going. I have been a practicing psychotherapist for 30+ years, focusing on helping people understand who they are and how their life experiences have shaped them. Symptoms like anxiety and depression are signals. Psychotherapy isn’t a quick fix, but a journey of exploration to achieve deeper self understanding, which can unlock the stuckness and lead to greater emotional freedom. I believe it to be the best investment we can make towards healthier living.

I believe true healing takes place when we can share our story, our pain and suffering, and our deepest thoughts and feelings in a safe place. Therapy is an investment in the self and in our relationships. It's a healing of the soul. My goal is to create a space, as well as foster a therapeutic relationship where you can feel comfortable to share, learn about yourself and grow.

How can I find a therapist in 73118?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
