Our first relationships are the foundation on which we build all future relationships. If our foundation is shaking, unreliable, or scary we develop a sense of disconnectedness or that we are in some way lacking. This feeling of vulnerability leads us to act in ways we don’t understand. Some may find themselves being overly clingy/controlling for fear that they may be left alone. Some have self-doubt leading to Anxiety, Depression, or addiction. While others shut themselves off from the world to protect themselves. We all have needs and it’s okay to have them met but how we do that can be more destructive than helpful.

Current availability for both in person and virtual sessions. Life can feel challenging at times. It can cause us to feel anxious or depressed. Often times, the feelings we experience in life can be overwhelming and impact our ability to manage these emotions. Therapy can help us learn how to manage these emotions and identify ways to problem solve different life struggles. Sometimes we want to learn skills to manage life’s challenges and sometimes all we want is a listening ear and to feel validated. Therapy helps us to not feel alone in this world and provides the support we may need in life.

Let's be honest, talking to a professional about your problems can be intimidating but taking step for yourself is a deeply rewarding process. Adjusting to the changes that life throws at us can be challenging and we don't always handle it as well as we'd like. In fact, we often find ourselves overwhelmed, anxious, burdened and saddened. My objective is to help you better understand, cope with, problem solve and face those changes in a way that is meaningful to you and your experiences.

I understand the difficulty of admitting the need for help and finding a person that is worthy of your trust. I hold my client's trust as sacred and consider it an honor each time I am invited into their life stories. I believe a good counseling service is one where the client has a sense of being in the "drivers seat" throughout the process. This approach allows people to have a strong sense of ownership of their personal growth that empowers them for future life challenges.

Are you noticing mood and behavioral changes in yourself or your child? Feeling more argumentative, anxious, or sad? Hard to calm down once you feel offended by something, even if it's minor? Although, all feelings are valid, it doesn't have to feel this hard or heavy. This can lead to a child, parent, or any person feeling alone. It doesn't have to feel that way and you don't have to figure it all out on your own. Perhaps you or your child have experienced recent life changes, abuse, or trauma? None of these experiences are easy to navigate and I'm here to help.

If you are trying your best in life and it doesn't seem to be working because of anxiety, depression, trauma or maybe you aren't quite sure why you are not getting the results you desire; I’m here to help you. My approach is always client centered, I work to clarify my client's values and improve feelings of personal effectiveness. I realize all of us have found ourselves at some point feeling stuck, wanting our story to look very different, however it’s not working without the correct tools and experiences to make that materialize. I believe it takes place when best combined with compassion, gentle challenge, creativity and humor.

You may feel overwhelmed by stress, transitions, or expectations that never seem to slow down. Many of my clients are military-connected individuals, high school teens, or adults navigating identity shifts, reintegration, anxiety, parenting challenges, or burnout. They want clarity, steadiness, and a place to make sense of what they’re carrying. Often, they’re seeking relief from emotional overload while building confidence, stronger coping skills, and a clearer direction forward.

I'm here for the misfits, the folks who have ever been told they’re “too much,” “too broken,” or “unhelpable.” (Spoiler alert: You are so not.) I use a bottom-up approach to healing. That means we’ll start with building safety, learning skills for nervous system regulation, and the real-life stuff that affects how you feel day-to-day. For those who feel things deeply, have urges to self-harm, experience suicidal ideation, or have been diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder, you are not alone. If traditional therapy has felt cold, clinical, or just off, let’s do this differently and work together to reclaim your story.

Are you feeling stuck in patterns of behavior or struggling with your reactions to life’s challenges? I’m here to help you understand and transform those patterns through Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy. IFS views the mind as made up of different parts, each with its own feelings and motivations. By connecting with and understanding these parts, we create space for healing and self-compassion. I help clients reframe their experiences and shift from self-criticism to self-compassion.

If you find yourself struggling, feeling like a mess, or just lost in the thick of life.... it can really cause turmoil and increase the "suck" for daily life. Maybe you're dealing with life transitions and children getting older and not really sure how to navigate those things. Hey, then there is grief and loss... even better, a life of trauma, or a traumatic event has happened and you feel stuck in the depressive state. Marriage and relationships, learning how to have healthy boundaries or even finding a way to feel ok with where you are in life.... You're in the right place. You have taken the first step!

My ideal client is someone who may be feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck—often because they’ve been navigating the world carrying burdens shaped by cultural, generational, or systemic challenges. They may be a teenager struggling to make sense of their identity in a complex social environment, an adult dealing with chronic anxiety or depression, or someone managing symptoms of trauma or long-term psychological distress. No matter how big you may feel your concern is, you are always worthy of grace and compassion.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in 73113?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
