As a counsellor my ideas and values are rooted in collaboration, compassion and understanding, and my approach is largely informed by humanistic and existential teachings.
I pride myself on meeting all clients – regardless of presenting problem, background or experience – where they are. Each and every individual is unique in who they are and what they bring to therapy, which will influence the dynamics of the therapeutic relationship.

My style is a blend of humanistic and client-centered theoretical approaches in which I apply a variety of different techniques based on individual client needs.
Being of service to another human being and finding a way to help is a privilege I am grateful for whenever it is presented to me. My goal as a counsellor is to help my clients find a way to work through the challenges of life in a way that best suits who they are in a safe, non-judgmental and collaborative approach. You already have everything you need to be happy and overcome the obstacles life has put in your way. My job is to help you discover and develop those strengths.

Practicing from a humanistic, client-centred foundation, I believe that we are all worthy of love and belonging.
Currently accepting new clients! Life can feel like a roller coaster at times. Moments of great success can feel like standing at the top of a mountain. “I’ve finally made it,” we may think. But then there are those other times. Moments when the ride of life unexpectedly shifts. Our roller coaster is derailed, and we plunge harder and faster than we ever thought possible. Regardless of what direction you feel you are heading on your life’s journey, connecting in a safe space to process your emotions and needs is a vital form of self-care.

I help men that: struggle to understand and communicate emotions so instead bottle them up; overwhelmed with anxiety and anger; feel helpless and passive and thereby suppress their feelings; get lost and stuck in depression; struggle with low self-esteem; tried counselling but never discovered the roots of their issues, their progress plateaued, or didn't gain anything from it; and who struggle to achieve deep, lasting changes in their feelings, thoughts, and behaviours. If you resonate with any of the above, you are ready to stop talking in circles about your issues and start tackling your problems head-on to make real progress.

If you're struggling in relationships or with anything related to your sexuality, you are in the right place. These topics can be difficult to experience, and scary to discuss, so having a counsellor or therapist who can discuss these topics openly is important. Whether you are attending counselling as an individual or together with another person/people, taking this first step is important. Perhaps the passionate energy is gone, or maybe you don't even recognize the person you sleep next to anymore. Seeking support, this moment right here, is the most important thing you can be doing. You don't have to do this alone.

Are you feeling depressed, anxious or stuck? Disconnected from family, friends or even yourself? Experiencing unfamiliar and uncomfortable feelings after an event or life transition? Feeling unfulfilled in life? If so, you are not alone. We often find ourselves engaging in the same repetitive behaviours and relationships that prevent us from achieving our goals and commitments in life. However, with the support and guidance of a counsellor, you can begin to make changes that will generate momentum in your life.

You're looking for much more than a therapist - you're here because you desire something to change in your life or relationships. I empower people and their relationships to overcome obstacles, connect, rediscover and reclaim their best and authentic lives. I work to create a safe and confidential space for all - to freely explore, acknowledge, resist external pressures and move towards what's right for you. I don’t “diagnose,” fix “disorders,” or pathologize “patients” - I collaborate with people in practical ways that consider their experiences, their needs, their style, their goals - at their pace.

How does humanistic therapy work?

One tenet of humanistic therapy is that people are good. The humanistic approach is concerned with a person’s ability to accept oneself. It likewise encourages a person to overcome self-criticism and self-defeating tendencies, as well as disapproval from others. This approach also emphasizes self-actualisation and treating an individual as a whole person. A foundation of this therapy type: The patient is the expert in their life, and treatment often takes the individual’s lead.

Is humanistic therapy evidence-based?

Humanistic therapy is an evidence-based practice. Research has found that humanistic therapy can lead to significant improvement, and for some people it can be just as effective as other therapies, such as Cognitive behavioural therapy. The benefits of humanistic therapy are enduring.

How long does humanistic therapy last?

The goal of humanistic therapy is to understand a person’s day-to-day experiences. While sessions can be short-term and last over a few months, therapy can sometimes continue beyond that and last up to a year or more. And because patients learn the theory behind humanistic therapy during treatment, they can also practice its tenets throughout life after therapy sessions have been completed.

Is humanistic therapy effective?

According to research, many patients find success with humanistic therapy. Researchers note that the therapy is particularly useful in addressing poor self-esteem and self-sabotage, as well as improving conditions including anxiety and depression. Improvements in problem areas can be long standing, as individuals can continue working on themselves by using the tools they’ve learned during treatment.
