We have the potential for immense resilience and wisdom. We are not, however, built to face all of life’s challenges on our own. There are times in life when we find ourself lost, stuck and unsure of how to move forward. I offer to walk alongside you for this part of your journey, help you discover strength, see a clearer path, and find your footing. Together we can begin to make sense of why certain issues may be arising, what isn’t working anymore and new ways of coping and responding to the challenges you face.

If you've passed the point of trying to merely alleviate symptoms and want to address the root causes of your struggle, I am a therapist that is ready and able to help you do that. I provide a stable and supportive environment that enables you to “go there” in safety, and I consistently provide opportunities and encouragement for you to do so. My clients find me to be highly insightful, empathetic, and easy to be vulnerable with. I effectively use analogies and metaphor to increase self-awareness and understanding. I am non-judgmental, and possess the ability to both meet people where they’re at and to help them shift.

At times, life can be demanding, stressful and overwhelming. We often find ourselves in need of direction, support, and guidance. I have been working in this industry for over 17 years and have walked along side many clients as they face their challenges. My philosophy is; the journey of life is not to be walked alone.

I am a licensed therapist specializing in C-PTSD/PTSD, Addictions and Recovery, families and partners affected by a loved one's substance abuse. As well as couples navigating ENM. My therapeutic approach is client centred and science based with complex psycho-education that I translate to be easily understood. I fundamentally believe we all want to know WHY we do what we do to make our lives difficult. WHAT happened to us to make life hard and HOW we get back to a state of peace. Almost every interaction we have is influenced by habits and belief systems that have been ingrained in us from the time we were little kids.

I offer supervision, somatic therapy, and psychedelic-assisted therapy for individuals on their journey through trauma and its effects. With a heartfelt dedication to trauma-informed care and ethical practices, I hope to create a welcoming space where both therapists and clients can explore the transformative healing potential of psychedelics, whether for self-discovery or within a medically supervised environment. As an experienced supervisor, mentoring therapists that are looking to integrate psychedelic therapy into their practice is a growing interest for so many people who are not getting the relief or reprieve they need.

I help men who want to save their number 1 relationship. Maybe your wife/partner is telling you that you should go for counselling, figure yourself out or deal with your "issues." We can start there, then uncover actions that bring change. For couples who have lost trust or have small arguments escalate into bitter relationship breakdowns, we can work with that too and take steps towards 1 - revealing the emotional and mental undercurrents, and 2 - practicing effective communication that restores and repairs. I also understand that making positive changes isn’t easy, so we take time to figure out what works best for you.

You came here because you are hurting and overwhelmed. And you want things to improve, so that you can quiet the turmoil, and feel much better again. You have made the right choice. Yet choosing the right psychologist is tricky. You want the best help available, someone who is caring, and truly helpful. That is why I use Feedback Improved Therapy. It consists of measuring in each session whether you are improving as a result of therapy, and your sense of teamwork with me. 3 research studies show that this doubles the effectiveness of psychotherapy.

Christina Fenske Why I Became a Counsellor & Social Worker At the heart of my work is a simple yet profound truth: every person carries resilience and strength within them. My journey into counselling and social work grew from a deep desire to walk alongside people through life’s challenges — not to “fix” them, but to empower them to discover their own healing and growth. My approach is holistic and strengths-based, recognizing that each individual’s story is unique. Healing isn’t one-size-fits-all, which is why I draw on a wide range of evidence-based practices: - EMDR, IFS, Narrative - Vagus Nerve, Somatic, ACT - CBT & DBT

Traumatic memories, anxiety, or emotional numbness can make it hard to feel safe or connected. You might find yourself experiencing fear, self-doubt, or isolation, wanting relief but unsure how to get it. You want to feel in control and rebuild trust in yourself and others. Healing may feel out of reach, but with the right therapy techniques it is possible.

I've been practicing since 1995 & I am a Registered Clinical Counsellor & Marriage & Family Therapist. However, I am now only accepting individual clients 18+. It's clear to me that we can all struggle, even if we are successful in other areas of our lives. Life can be unpredictable & the stress & demands of everyday life, work & relationships can take its toll. As stressors build, you may find yourself struggling with anxiety, mood, eating, body image issues or turning to addictive behaviours. You may also find that unresolved grief or past trauma keeps seeping into your daily life & especially when you least want or expect it.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

Most Counsellors and Psychotherapists listed in the directory are certified by one of the main professional associations, mainly the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association (CCPA), and will have a Certified Canadian Counsellor (CCC) designation with their name. Social Workers listed in the directory must be registered members of the college specific to their province. To be listed in the directory, Psychologists must be registered with the psychological college specific to their province or territory.

Providers whose professional membership or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Given the considerable variation in professional regulation and prerequisites across Canadian provinces, some providers may possess significant professional qualifications without necessarily holding professional memberships or being obliged to acquire them. As a result, they may be selectively included without the "Verified" seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counsellor?

Psychologists, counsellors, psychotherapists and social workers can all provide counselling or talking therapy and have credentials and supervised, practical experience that enable them to do so in Canada.

Psychologists have a master's and/or doctoral degree and have passed both written and oral exams. Psychologists are able to complete mental health assessments and provide diagnostic information to clients as well as provide counselling therapy or psychotherapy. Counsellors and psychotherapists are expected to have a master's or doctoral degree in counselling psychology, social work, or a related mental health discipline and certification by a professional association, such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. Registered Social Workers possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work and where possible must be licensed or certified by the provincial government and/or regulatory college.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, the cost of a therapy session in Canada could be between $100 and $200. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

If you are struggling to access therapy due to budget constraints, you could also consider public funded mental health services. Some types of outpatient mental health services are covered by Medicare, provided these are performed by a licensed mental health professional in the provinces or territory you reside in and who accepts the assignment.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your postal code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Professionals licensed by regulatory colleges and those certified by associations such as the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association are obligated to uphold client confidentiality unless there is a legal reason that requires them to disclose information. Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship and only under specific circumstances, such as when there is the potential or known harm to the client or others, or a court order, will a therapist be obligated to break the agreement. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed during the initial consultation.
