My practice focuses on helping folks with various issues, including depression, anxiety, self-esteem, family conflict, relationship issues, grief & loss, and trauma.
I work with adults, teens, and couples who are experiencing a variety of life transitions and challenges. A stressful life event, sudden change, or recent loss can make it feel like the ground has fallen out from under you. My work is centred around helping you increase self-understanding, process difficult feelings, memories or experiences, and expand your coping abilities. Together we will establish a therapeutic space that feels safe to explore how to move towards a more balanced present.

Experiencing loss in life is 100% going to happen. Loss can be natural/unexpected death, loss of relationship, pet, identity, opportunity. It can be expected/anticipated, sudden/traumatic. Loss causes a seismic shift in your world, turning it upside down. Navigating or preparing for loss can be isolating, confusing & make you feel angry, guilty, unsafe & insecure. You may be seeking to emerge from this with a deeper understanding of yourself, improve your relationships, find confidence in your direction in life, restore a sense of safety/assurance in the world or just to cope with what is happening. Either way, I'm here.

Life is full of challenges both expected and unexpected. It is my goal to help you navigate a path through your current circumstances whatever they may be. Loss is a particular challenge which affects all of us. It can be the loss of a loved one, an ability, a relationship, or a job. I have years of experience helping people move forward from loss or trauma. I have also worked to help young adults navigate transitions that are often a source of anxiety or depression.

As a queer first-generation immigrant, I felt lost trying to adjust to a new country while grieving the loss of what was left behind. I struggled with feelings of shame, loneliness, and lack of support. In finding a therapist that understood my experience, shifts started to happen. I felt seen and validated and my self-esteem and self-worth grew. It is this transformative experience that motivated me to start my practice centered on inclusivity, anti-oppression, and decolonization.

You may be seeking out therapy to make sense of numbness or overwhelm. You seek understanding and moving out of that sense of wariness to engage with your life fully. Perhaps grief, anxiety, depression, and neurodivergence are all a part of your story. But asking for support may be out of reach; you've learned to cope on your own for so long. Let us walk together through your life, and make sense of some of these untouchable parts. Gently, at your pace, we will discover what comes next and how best to resource you. Coping with new parts of life means we may need to untangle the unknown of our past. I can be there as this unfolds.

Welcome! Every one of us has grown and been shaped by the relationships we have had and continue to have throughout our lives. Along this path, there may have been pain, anxiety, grief, loss, and joy. Perhaps you are searching for support with depression or loss, or anxiety, or the sense that something isn’t as you wish it to be in your life and relationships. You are seeking a path out of your distress. In therapy, building the space for acceptance and curiosity, for compassion and repair, is what heals.

I delight in the uniqueness and complexity of each individual. Holding space for personal work, reflection and deepening of awareness is a gift and honor that I hold dear. I feel it's important to make room for the unfolding intentionality of each person through body mind heart and soul. I tend to support experiences around development, grief, queerness, sexuality and spirituality with great tenderness. I look forward to learning from the people who I meet in my practice as I adapt to how they experience being supported.

Grief Counsellors

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
