I specialize in supporting people dealing with relationship issues, grief, and the unique challenges of anxiety.
You are doing everything right, so why does it still feel off? You keep it together on the outside, but inside your mind will not slow down, you feel stuck in yourself or your relationships, and it is exhausting trying to hold it all together. Together, we make sense of what is going on and help you move toward more clarity, stability, and connection, so things do not have to feel this hard anymore, especially when you are tired of overthinking, second guessing yourself, or never quite feeling at ease.

I share a common human experience with my clients and appreciate our journeys. Maybe you're considering therapy to connect with someone non-judgmental and outside your personal support system; you're feeling uneasy or worrying about life; you're withdrawing from others and no longer find joy and pleasure; substance use or a habitual behaviour is getting in the way of meaningful relationships and meeting life’s challenges; or you experienced a major event in your life and you're feeling overwhelmed. We will endeavour to understand these challenges and I will support you in taking steps that would benefit you.

Sometimes it can be hard to talk about certain life experiences; we might not always want to talk about it, but still feel like we need support. Sometimes we may struggle to find the words, the time, the space, or the energy to safely process the different thoughts and feelings that we each hold.

Loss is a particular challenge which affects all of us.
I work from a trauma perspective and understand that the coping skills developed when we were young are no longer adequate for the challenges we face. We will work together to determine the intervention best suited to your needs, experiences, and beliefs.

“We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience.” -Pierre Teilhard de Chardin. I believe that every person has inherent worth and is on a journey of healing, growth, and love. We all come with our own challenges and strengths. However, there may have been things that have made life not okay for you and that has brought on a layer of challenges that are heavy to hold alone. My commitment is to meet individuals, couples, and families in their process of making sense of the mysteries and difficulties in which we find ourselves and to offer encouragement, comfort, and hope.

I offer psychotherapy for individuals ages 12 and up, to address mental health concerns like trauma, relationships, life transitions, anxiety, mood disorders, ADHD, and grief.
Sometimes we can feel disconnected to both others and even ourselves.. Our true self. It's not always easy to recognize this and it's definitely not easy to reach out for support, but here you are! I’m passionate about helping others build meaningful, healthy connections. To feel more connected to yourself, your loved ones, your purpose and your values. When we can move towards more clarity and insight to what that is, we can create a life that feels authentic. When we learn what that is, even when we are faced with the inevitable ups and downs of life, we can feel more inner trust to handle it. Does that sound like your goal?

In this space, my clients can be themselves without needing to wear a mask. I am passionate about journeying with my clients because I believe each of their stories is worth telling and hearing – I see each person as an individual with unique strengths and challenges, and who deserves to be treated with dignity and respect.

Grief Counsellors
How long does therapy take for grief?
There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.
When should you seek therapy for grief?
Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.
Can grief be managed without therapy?
Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.
What happens if grief is left untreated?
Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
