Hello! My name is Avis Edwards. I’m a Licensed Resident in Counseling. I have 14 years of experience in the behavioral health field working with children, adolescents, and adults with varying mental health and co-occurring disorders. I provide culturally sensitive individual, family, group psychotherapy, and crisis counseling.

Our mission is to promote hope, healing, and wholeness for individuals, groups, marriages & families, through quality mental health services that are integrated with the fullness of the Catholic faith. We offer individual, couples and family psychotherapy, as well as psychological and psychoeducational assessments. Our clinicians are trained in the resolution of a broad range of psychological, emotional, social and educational problems, and remain faithful to the Magisterium of the Catholic Church

Situations change, but the same painful emotions can occur repeatedly, regardless of the content of the situation. Over 30 years experience with individual, couple, child, adolescent and family therapy, grounded in a Bowen Family Systems Theory framework. Research and extensive training in Bowen Family Systems Theory through Syracuse University (Syracuse, N.Y.) and The Bowen Center for the Study of the Family (Washington, D.C.). Experience is important. Being grounded in a specific therapy that a therapist uses in treatment is nonnegotiable.

Welcome! I am Stiphenee Flores Soto, a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) in FL, VA, CT, and ME. I received a Bachelors in Social Work and Masters in Social Work Florida Atlantic University.

Having personally experienced the healing effects of therapy, I hope to be able to help others find the same. As a therapist with a background in eduction, and a mother of five children, I have dealt with numerous life experiences and challenges. We all experience stages in life when we struggle to understand our, or perhaps others', feelings or behaviors, and need help processing "life". In helping clients find healthy patterns, understand others, deal with unexpected grief, and find new perspectives, I have seen many clients find peace and clarity, ultimately transforming their lives for the better.

I am a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who is passionate about helping individuals and families. I have lived in many states and in Okinawa, Japan, and in Virginia most recently. My diverse military and family background led me to undergraduate studies at The Pennsylvania State University, and doctoral degree in Psychology at Argosy University where I developed a special interest in multicultural competency and mental health treatment. I have over 15 years of clinical experience and find collaborative work essential with other mental and health professionals in order to provide the highest level of care in treating the whole person.

Persons seek therapy when they experience stress, conflict, or loss that cause unhappiness and reduce effectiveness. They are affected negatively by pressure and problems at work, family, and relationships. Individuals come into therapy with their own particular needs shaped by disappointments and failures in some aspect of living in their world. With my guidance, together we create a treatment program which addresses their specific concerns. My approach is interpersonal, supportive and direct. I focus on helping my clients obtain relief from emotional distress and develop strength and awareness to deal successfully with events that confront them day to day.

I am a licensed clinical psychologist with expertise in providing individual psychotherapy to children, adolescents, adults, and families. In therapy, I draw upon a variety of psychodynamic, cognitive-behavioral, and family systems techniques to help patients identify areas for growth and change and recognize what may be impeding achievement of their goals, while drawing upon their existing strengths. Most importantly, I adjust my style to align with each patient's particular needs, and strive to have my patients feel heard, supported, and less alone. Particular areas of clinical interest include trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship problems, and family conflict. I also have experience conducting psychoeducational assessments.

I am a Marriage and Family Therapy providing individual, couple, and family therapy in McLean, Virginia. I obtained my Bachelor's degree in Sociology from Johns Hopkins University, and my Master's degree in Couple and Family Therapy from the University of Maryland. I am currently a candidate in training to become a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist. Jackie Laurenzi, M.Ed., Resident in Counseling, has a Masters degree in School Counseling and a Certificate in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from George Mason University. She believes that working on one’s mental health is an important step to creating a healthy, satisfying life. Jackie enjoys partnering with her clients to discover how different aspects of one’s life are intertwined and reciprocal. She gets to know her clients’ backgrounds, as well as their wants and needs, through supportive conversation and genuine interest. Trust between client and counselor is a top priority before diving into emotional work.
