It has been my life-long calling to help others on their journey towards becoming who they were created to be. I understand the impact of trauma on a person’s life; the things done or said to us by others can be a barrier to growing into and becoming our best selves. I have spent decades, locally and abroad, working with individuals and families in under-resourced areas. It is my desire for people to see themselves as more than the sum of their life circumstances and past hurts. I endeavor to provide a safe space where life issues can be worked through and individuals can find freedom and healing.

Therapy focuses on the essential areas of the complexity of human behavior and development in a collaborative therapeutic setting. Therapy provides the opportunity to process challenges an individual may be struggling with by identifying coping skills and therapeutic resources. Transparency and vulnerability are necessary to approach sensitive personal experiences, and most importantly, I believe barriers can be broken with awareness, accountability, education, and resources. As a Licensed Master Social Worker, my educational background and work experience has enhanced my ability to treat various challenges and trauma.

Have you ever been told you are "too much" but you constantly feel like you aren't enough? Or have you ever been depressed but felt guilty because outside looking in you "have it all together"? I've been there and I know how it feels. As a therapist, I offer empathy and help you develop healthy strategies to mute those negative thoughts. I give you the tools to ask for what you need in personal and professional relationships. I remind you that anxiety, depression, and past traumas do not make you broken or flawed. Your brain just works differently and I show you ways to manage that. I believe in you!

My first responsibility as your counselor is to provide a safe, non-judgemental and confidential space which supports you as you deepen the relationship with yourself and others. As our relationship grows, you’ll find that I believe healing and change can occur when you discover or recover how to be attuned to your true, authentic self and fully live from that knowing and those values. I also believe healing and growth can occur when we are seen and known and are intentionally caring for our whole mind, body and spirit.

With all the challenges that we are facing in our world today, mental health is more important now than ever. Too often, people are riddled with anxiety, grief, and past traumas that prevent them from becoming their best selves. There are some who even feel like they have lost touch with their inner authentic selves, and have trouble being dedicated to their faith while seeking help. My goal is to help those that are in need of finding the balance needed to create a life worth living. Together, we can overcome anxiety, grief and much more, by taking care of both your mental and spiritual health.

Psychotherapy is a process leading to the recognition of one's true self. As difficulties begin to "make sense," how to tackle personal problems becomes clearer. No one's depression, relationships, anxiety, or self-esteem difficulties are exactly like anyone else's. That is why understanding one’s unique life is more helpful than a diagnosis. Current problems are often influenced by past experiences which can then become generalized assumptions about life and others. It is important to separate assumptions from the truth. Good therapy results in personal understanding, but more importantly, a greater sense of being alive.

I use my training as a Clinical Psychologist along with humor, compassion and experiential knowledge. I work with adults who want to make life changes. Frequently, I work with people in crisis, addressing acute depression, panic or grief. We can't change the past but we can change self defeating patterns or relationships in the present. I also work with people who have suffered abuse to live as survivors, not victims.
