Hello, my name is Aliya! First, congratulations on your step toward change! I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor serving the Sunshine State of Florida. You look at your adolescent and wonder what happened to your sweet, happy kid? Your parent intuition tells you something is not right. There are so many changes, too fast. Adolescence is a stage of life that brings with it a lot of change, physically, socially, and emotionally. Whether your child is entering adolescence, in the middle of adolescence or at the end of adolescence, each stage brings its challenges. Not addressing issues presented with your teen can lead to risky behaviors. Most parents brace themselves and suffer through it, as does their teen but it doesn't have to be this way!

My interest is partnering with clients providing information and strategies that come from clinical research complimenting Biblical truths leading to deeper and more satisfying relationships within the family. Areas often addressed in therapy include; grief and loss, family changes, and communication styles many of which are positively impacted by increasing 'Emotional Intelligence'. Emotional Intelligence encompasses self-awareness, understanding and managing emotions, learning how to appropriately respond and connect to people/situations, and developing and maintaining healthy relationships. Adults, as well as, children often experience frustration when attempting to balance the demands of life while making and maintaining connections with others.

Painful, overwhelming feelings and relationship stress are difficult to navigate alone and that's why I strive to provide a place where you will feel valued, understood, and supported. I’m committed to helping adolescents and adults feel empowered to face the many challenges life offers. I help people that are struggling with relationships, parenting, grief, and transitions. As well as, providing care for those that are experiencing symptoms of anxiety, depression, and PTSD.

I have a 20+ year background in providing counseling and psychotherapeutic services to integrated behavioral health patients of all ages, from the chronically mentally ill, self-esteem problems, relationship problems, spirituality concerns, identity issues, those who suffer from terminal medical illnesses, in addition to those battling severe chemical dependency problems. I also have experience in providing therapy for inmates as well, and I'm currently attending medical courses to develop learning along the the biochemical spectrum of clinical disorders for future psychiatric practice.

Annette Bushfield, a Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor, has served as a therapist in NY and FL for 19 years.
