I work primarily with adolescents and adults struggling with feelings of anxiety, depression, Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, and more.
If we could wave a magic wand and make all unhelpful thoughts and feelings suddenly disappear, what would your life then look like? What would be different? I'd love to hear your answer to this question, or to work together to build an answer. I strive to create a warm, nonjudgmental, and connected environment where we can hold your pain, together. I hope to explore with you the thoughts, feelings, and behaviors that can be key in becoming unstuck, living by your values, and building a meaningful life.

I specialize in treating Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) using gold-standard and emerging best practices including Exposure therapy, Inference-Based Cognitive therapy and Acceptance and Commitment therapy.
CBT really works! Especially when you are working with a trained and experienced therapist. I hold advanced certification in Cognitive Behavior Therapy and use this approach exclusively. Together we will work to improve your insight, mood and motivation. You will learn what influences your mood and decision-making, and how ways of thinking and doing can lead to feeling stuck and hopeless. In addition to CBT, I can teach you powerful skills to improve distress tolerance and emotional regulation. These are skills you will learn to use now, and can rely on in the future.

Are you or your child struggling with an anxiety disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), or related concerns? Do you or your child feel stuck and in need of a non-judgmental environment to address unhelpful behavioral patterns and/or unwanted thoughts? Are these issues impacting your or your child’s ability to engage at work, school, or in relationships? These experiences can feel very isolating and distressing, and you might be asking yourself, “where do I even begin?”

I am a social worker at the New England Center for OCD and Anxiety helping clients of all ages. I have experience helping people struggling with OCD, anxiety, and related disorders, and particularly enjoy working with neurodivergent, queer, and gender nonconforming clients. My goals are your goals. I am a firm believer that I, as your therapist, should not be someone that is telling you what kind of person you should be. I am the resource and guide on your journey to transform into the version of yourself you would most like to be. Your life is your story, and you deserve the tools to write it.

Calling a therapist can be intimidating and it takes courage to ask someone to help you look inside and make changes. Anxiety and depression can make you feel stuck, but there is hope. Much of my practice is geared towards providing relief from anxiety/OCD, depression, interpersonal conflict and traumatic experiences. If you have repetitive negative thoughts, high stress or are coping with chronic sadness or irritability I can help you achieve the life changes you are looking for and experience yourself in a new way. Finally, I have expertise in helping people cope with post pandemic related stress.

I provide evidence-based treatments for adults with OCD, perinatal OCD, and anxiety disorders. Having OCD makes it hard to be present in your life. You may be having anxious thoughts about contamination, the health of your baby, or something bad happening to someone you care about. You may be having scary, intrusive thoughts that don’t make sense and feel like the opposite of who you are. You find yourself repeating behaviors or reviewing situations in your mind to alleviate anxiety, but the thoughts and anxiety always return.

Obsessive-Compulsive (OCD) Therapists

How long does OCD treatment take?

Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.

What happens if OCD is not treated?

Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.

Are there medications for OCD?

Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.

Can OCD come back after treatment?

Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
