I enjoy connecting with those who are faced with the adversity of depression, anxiety, and PTSD. It is my passion to meet people where they are through understanding and a nonjudgemental working relationship. I will help you navigate your healing process. I provide both telehealth and in person services at The Counseling Center at Tree City in Boise, ID. I have provided therapy and counseling since 1997. I have experience working as an alcohol and drug counselor and clinical supervisor at correctional facilities as well as outpatient alcohol and drug counseling, case management, and mental health therapy.

My desire to help people took me from Army Veteran to Certified Nursing Assistant to Drug/Alcohol Counselor to now a Licensed Master of Social Work. I am understanding, nonjudgmental, aware and direct. I focus on building excellent rapport with clients and creatively invoking conversation. I provide an environment where individuals feel safe and free to share. Clients can expect to be supported and cared for in sessions that are interactive and lean on fun when appropriate.

I work with individuals experiencing frequent and persistent Anxiety. Feeling a certain level of discomfort over big stressors is totally normal, however, if that worry does not go away or progresses it may be time to reach out for help. Unmanaged stress and anxiety can lead to chronic mental, physical, and relational problems. Common mental health issues that lead people to work with me include anxiety and panic, addiction and substance abuse, depression, grief and loss, bipolar functioning, and relationship concerns.

I am currently working on developing my private practice at Safehaven Counseling Center where we take an integrated holistic approach to emotional, physical, and spiritual health. As you make your way through life, I am here to provide a compassionate, warm, non-judgmental space for you to better understand yourself and the journey that God has set before you. You may be experiencing difficulty in a relationship or suffering from depression or anxiety. You may be trying to make sense of past trauma or abuse. Whatever your situation, I am committed to walking alongside you as you work through difficult issues towards healing.

My counseling philosophy involves allowing a client to be themselves and working to meet them "wherever they may be on their own self discovery journey". I have been in the counseling field for over 20 years and have tremendous experience working with several populations. I have learned that individuals have the innate capacity to grow and become their best selves, given an environment in which they can do so. Asking for help to do this can be very difficult. Regardless of the obstacles in your life, you have the capacity to move forward.

My clinical specialties include Trauma, Couples and Marital Counseling, Parenting Issues, and a variety of Addiction. Primarily, my areas of expertise are Problematic Sexual Behaviors, Autism, and PTSD.

Medical problems are treated including tension headache, migraine, chronic pain,irritable bowel syndrome, chrones disease, MS, Lupus, arthritis, fibromyalgia, stress and immune system insufficiency. Addictions are treated including including sex addiction, addiction to pornography, cyber-gaming, food and nicotine addiction. Also treated are adult children of addicts, and personality disorders. Treatment methods include a solution focused, brief therapy that include cognitive behavior therapy, rational hypnotherapy, bio-feedback and brief, gestalt therapy.

And as a transgender woman I know about transitional challenges! When change comes along it can be very stressful.

Populations I really enjoy working with are youth (ages 13+) and young adults. I feel this has definitely become my niche as this tends to be a transition period for youth with learning who they are as an individual, finding their voice, peer/school pressure, and social media. As well young adults (18-30) what I notice is this age group really struggles with boundary setting as they are transitioning from being under their parents to being an adult. I also enjoy helping them with identification of values and beliefs what are important to them, follow through and helping them learn to have healthy habits.
