More About Me: I am a Vietnam-Era Veteran with experience working with veterans and the homeless population. Although my expertise is with Substance Abuse; I am skilled in Mental Health issues as well (PTSD, Depression, Anxiety Disorder, Bipolar Disorder). My life experiences have helped develop my skills in certain areas due to my diagnosis with PTSD and Substance Use Disorder. I understand the ambivalence when it comes to trusting and opening up your life to a total stranger. I want to be that person to help guide you along your journey.

Hi I am Jack Cottom, a licensed professional counselor. Welcome to my practice. I have been practicing psychotherapy for more than 10 years. I specialize in working with issues around trauma, identity, self esteem, depression, anxiety, and confidence. My goal in my practice is to assist you with addressing the 'thing' that has you stuck in a certain place whether it's a way of thinking, behaving, trauma, or lack of knowledge and/or skill.

My ideal client has been to therapy in the past and didn't feel they were helped or never really connected with the person sitting across from them.

My clients are struggling with personal trauma, sometimes stemming from their childhood, other times from traumatic events at other times in their life. This may include racism. They may be struggleing in their current relationships with spouses, parents or their children. Some are self-medicating with drugs or alcohol, others are challenged by crippling anxiety, panic or depression. Still other clients have mood swings, boutes of anger and diffculty regulating their emotions behavior or thinking. They may have impulses to self harm in a variety of different ways, from cutting, binging or purginng, or other behaviors.

My most ideal clients would be anyone looking to overcome depression, anxiety, or disappointments in life. I would love to work with individuals who are looking for ways to deal with transitions in life and use the necessary coping skills and self-help to overcome them. I'm opening to working with adolescents to adults in helping them get on the right track with their lives.

I have over 25 years experience working as a Psychologist, Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Addiction Counselor. I work daily in private practice with active duty military, veterans and their counselors at the VA. I work with a variety of issues including unresolved grief, anger & resentments, depression, anxiety, PTSD, self-harm behaviors, addictions, self-esteem, relationship issues, and LGTB issues. My passion is to assist individuals to work through their fears, insecurities and emotional pain. I am a Red Cross Disaster Relief Mental Health Counselor in my spare time.

Terry Samuels earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice in December 1994 from Armstrong Atlantic University. Terry obtained his Master of Public Administration degree in December 1996 from Georgia State University. Terry obtained his Master of Professional Counseling degree in December 2015 from Grand Canyon University. Terry completed a 10-month internship at Intown Psychological Associates and completed the hours required for his associate license. Terry is a fully licensed therapist in the state of Georgia (LPC011391). Terry obtained his doctorate in psychology from Grand Canyon University in November of 2023.
