Teri’s theoretical orientation is primarily based on CBT, solution focused interventions, and a 12 step model of addiction. She also uses expressive arts to help clients work through their feelings and thoughts in a different way when conversation reaches a “stuck” point and talk therapy is not enough. It is my belief that events happen in patterns - some healthy, some unhealthy. As we explore the presenting problem, I help my clients to recognize and explore patterns. Between sessions, I assign homework that includes journaling & worksheets exploring automatic thoughts.

I hold a degree from Boston University School of Social Work with a focus on Behavioral Medicine from BU school of Medicine. I have over 15 plus years of experience working with kids and adults in clinics, hospitals, schools and communities. I specialize in working children, teens and adults suffering from depression, anxiety and a variety of mood disorders. I also specialize in supporting kids and teens with issues such as bullying, school related stressors, life transitions, high conflict divorce, grief and loss.

Door of Hope Counseling Center is a private non-profit that offers hope and healing to those who are hurting as a result of trauma and grief, depression, anxiety, behavioral issues, relational issues, parenting issues, or more severe mental health issues. A sliding fee scale is available for those without insurance. Individual, family, group and couples counseling is offered. Play therapy is available for children. Door of Hope serves clients between the ages of 5 to senior adults. I have 29 years experience in community mental health and residential mental health.
