Throughout this process, you will be supported and listened to non-judgementally while being supplied with skills you can use to improve negative thinking, ease anxiety and depressive symptoms, navigate grief or loss, trauma, life changes, self-discovery, LGBT challenges, women's issues, non-monogamous/kink related struggles, family dynamics and more.
Hello! Therapy and choosing to engage with oneself on an intimate and vulnerable level can be an intimidating and frustrating experience, but making that decision, for yourself, can ultimately be one of the most rewarding things you can do. Choosing to know yourself and be compassionate towards your behavior and experiences can lead to not only tangible change but also fulfillment and a more well-rounded and positive outlook on life.

My background as a family therapist means that I am trained to look at problems within a relational framework, whether that be between people, social systems, or the varied components of self within a single individual. The longer I practice, the more I believe that suffering and symptoms arise when we are disconnected from these relationships; disconnected from our bodies, from our emotions, from our needs, from our communities, and from others…

As a therapist, I will work collaboratively with you and/or your family to develop meaningful goals to work towards to help increase your overall fulfillment in life.
I am passionate about working with women entering the world of motherhood who may be struggling with perinatal mood and anxiety disorders. I find helping them process and understand their new experience as a parent and the impact such a huge transition has on their well-being can be incredibly beneficial. I also love working with young couples that have recently become parents as they struggle to navigate a new vision of their relationship. I can work with young children within the family as well, while mostly focusing on the family as a whole as we work towards ways we can adjust parenting practices to sustain a happier household.

I have experience providing individual, group, and family therapy sessions.
Language & words matter. We define ourselves & our worldview with our words. How do we talk to ourselves? What does our inner critic sound like? Is that voice in your mind coming from you, or someone else? Is that voice supporting your goals, or keeping you stuck? The voice in our head and the words it speaks to us are habitual; it can cause a negative cycle if not explored. Therapy is an opportunity to engage in a healing relationship with that voice in your head. I am here to support you, guide you through that journey, and help break that negative cycle.

Family Therapy

What do family therapists do?

A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.

How long does therapy for families take to work?

Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.

How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?

You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.

Is therapy for families effective?

Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
