As an AASECT certified sex and relationship therapist, I believe our sexuality, and our relationships with others are important contributors to our overall well-being. When we are out of sync with ourselves, or with the ones we love, we may experience anxiety, depression, fear, and shame. I provide a nurturing place where individuals and couples can learn to experience joy, curiosity, and acceptance of themselves, and with their significant others. I specialize in sexual challenges such as mismatched desire, low or absent desire, premature ejaculation, vaginismus, inability to achieve orgasm, and erotic injuries such as infidelity.

You feel stressed out and exhausted. Between work and family life, you are constantly busy but as soon as you lay down at night your mind starts racing and it keeps you from the sleep you so desperately need. You feel like you are working all the time, but you never get anything accomplished. You can’t relax, even when you have down time, and it’s hard to be alone with your thoughts. You feel like you are failing in the areas of your life that are the most important to you. If you could just break out of this unhealthy cycle, you would be happier and more successful in both your personal and professional life.

My office is my home away from home so I have created a safe and comfortable space for us to work together. You'll be greeted with soft music, chilled beverages and a relaxing atmosphere. Our first contact will be by phone and we'll discuss your needs to determine if I am able to help you with the specialties I offer. When we meet, we'll identify the circumstances or symptoms that currently prevent you from living as fully as you would like. I see us working as a team and I welcome your feedback throughout our time together.

I strongly believe, and research supports, that there must be a good "fit" in a therapist-client relationship. I aim to create a safe environment with empathy, unconditional positive regard, and nonjudgment. I believe we all inherently have the capacity for growth, and my job is to provide the healthy environment needed to gain insight, challenge maladaptive behaviors, and support your positive change.

You have the freedom to create the life that you choose. Rather than conforming and living out someone else’s vision, let’s work together to embrace and build upon the things that make you unique. I support a community that encourages people to use their abilities and talents by working with neurodivergent people and families to construct values, set goals, and clear the path toward a meaningful life. Let's maximize your strengths and learn how to manage the things that cause distress and harm your relationship with yourself and the world.

Everyone deserves a safe space and providing that is my first priority. I am a client-centered, down-to-earth clinician who leads with empathy, honesty, and humor. My goal is to help people live fulfilling lives of dignity and I genuinely want to see individuals and families live life to the fullest. I invite you to come just as you are and would be honored to partner with you during your healing journey!

Accepting new clients. As a clinician I’ve learned exposure based work is crucial regardless of what you are struggling with. Learning how to tolerate discomfort and hold it with acceptance and compassion is what makes healing so hard. This is what I help clients learn how to do, accept all parts of who they are and hold it with compassion and understanding. I have experience working with a wide variety of individuals, I have found myself excelling working with OCD, Anxiety related disorders, Trauma, and ADHD. There is a discernment process in healing, learning when we need to respond and when we dont. This is what takes time.

Life is challenging and my belief is that even with a little help, you can overcome those challenges and function at your best. The past can be your teacher, and time your healer. My belief is that when we stop fighting the past or our present hardships is when we can THRIVE. I will meet you where you are. We can go from there.

“Family dysfunction rolls from generation to generation like a fire in the woods taking down everything in its path until one person, in one generation, has the courage to turn and face the flames. That person brings peace to his ancestors and spares the children that follow.” — Terry Real. Taking a step towards therapy is an act of bravery. An act that can begin to open up space for healing in your life or in your relationships.

****I AM CURRENTLY CONDUCTING SESSIONS BY TELEHEALTH ONLY****I believe that you are utilizing the best coping skills you have available at any particular moment. Sometimes, despite best efforts, you might get stuck. You might feel like you have approached a problem area from all angles. Prolonged stress can make matters worse. It is not uncommon for life to feel, "out of balance." My philosophy is to try to re-gain balance. To feel like all parts of your life are in sync. Further, I believe that true happiness is possible once you reach your highest potential.

FAQs - About Therapy and Counseling

How can I find a therapist in Scottsdale?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors.

Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the US, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

How much does therapy cost?

The cost of therapy depends on a number of variables, including location and the therapist’s experience and training. On average, a therapy session in the United States could cost between $100 and $200 or more. If you have insurance, the expense of mental health care is typically lower, but it varies based on your insurance plan details and whether you choose an in-network or out-of-network mental healthcare provider.

What are more affordable or low cost therapy solutions?

Many therapists offer sliding scale payments, usually on a limited number of slots, which consists in an agreement between the therapist and a client to pay a reduced rate. Therapists who provide such arrangements often consider the client's income or ability to pay, but the extent of the discount is ultimately at the therapist's discretion. Furthermore, while group therapy may have different goals and benefits compared to individual therapy, it can be a more affordable solution to address certain types of issues.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

Are therapy sessions confidential?

Confidentiality is a crucial part of the therapeutic relationship. Therapists in the United States are bound by the regulations set out by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA), which aims to protect sensitive health information. With very few exceptions, a therapist will only discuss their client with others when the client has given their written permission. The instances in which a therapist would be required to disclose personal information are: if a client poses a danger to themselves or others, if the therapist suspects the abuse of a child or an elderly or otherwise dependent adult, or if they are legally forced to by court order. These exceptions to the confidentiality agreement are usually discussed with a client before their first session.
