David Szwedo Ph.D.

David Szwedo, Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Psychology at James Madison University and a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who specializes in treating depression, anxiety, and relationship issues. Dr. Szwedo earned his B.A. in Psychology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from the University of Virginia. He completed his pre-doctoral internship at the Medical College of Georgia and completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Clinical Psychology at the Medical University of South Carolina. Dr. Szwedo began teaching at JMU in 2014 and is the Psychology Department's Field Placement Director. He also regularly teaches classes in Counseling and Clinical Psychology. He has published numerous articles in journals such as Developmental Psychology, Journal of Clinical Child and Adolescent Psychology, and the Journal of Youth and Adolescence. He maintains a small, part-time clinical practice.
