Aldo Civico Ph.D.

About

Aldo Civico, Ph.D., has been defined as "one of the best global executive coaches" (John Mattone, executive coach to Steve Jobs) and as "the leaders' whisperer" (Abigail Disney, philanthropist). In addition to work with business leaders and celebrities across the world, Aldo is a negotiation and conflict resolution instructor at Columbia University, an author and a keynote speaker.

Insightful and engaging, Aldo Civico teaches executives around the world how to powerfully upgrade their mental game and to develop the character and the skills to become intelligent and conscious leaders. From experience, Aldo knows that executives unlock and unleash their potential when they expand their "Inner Core," leverage the skills they already master, and close the development gap that prevents them from achieving high performance. As a result, Aldo's clients have consistently experienced exponential growth, adding significant value to their organization, families, and life.

For the past twenty-five years, Aldo has served as a negotiation adviser and facilitator in armed conflicts in Colombia, the Western Balkans, and Syria. He led efforts to curb urban violence in Mexico, Haiti, Italy, and the United States and advised national governments on disarmament, demobilization, and reintegration of former combatants. Since 2005, Aldo has been intimately involved in the peace talks between the Colombian government and insurgent groups.

In 2000, after serving as a senior advisor to Palermo’s anti-mafia mayor, Leoluca Orlando, Aldo moved to New York where he joined the Center for International Conflict Resolution at Columbia University. In 2007, he was named the director of the Center and today continues to lecture in advanced conflict resolution courses at Columbia University’s Master in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution. Today Aldo leverages the skills and insights he gained in extreme contexts to help CEO, senior executives, members of Family Offices, and Board members to deal effectively with conflict.

The author of four books, Aldo received his Ph.D. from Columbia University in socio-cultural anthropology in 2008. He is a member of the Board of Directors of Abigail Disney’s "Peace is Loud" foundation and of the Association for Conflict Resolution. His forthcoming book Intelligent Conflict builds on Aldo’s international experience and will help executives to discover in conflict an opportunity for innovation as well as personal and organizational growth.

Aldo received his Ph.D. from Columbia University in social-cultural anthropology in 2008. In July 2017, he joined John Mattone Global as an IL Executive Coaching Master Trainer and the Operations Director for Latin America. In 2018, Aldo launched the ICF-accredited Executive Conflict Coaching Certification training. He is currently a Visiting Professor at the Colegio de Estudios Superiores de Administración in Bogotá, Colombia.
